Melania had vented over the past few weeks that the press team was not proactive in defending her husband and that Spicer was not doing a good job, a source told Politico.
The leaks bother her, the source said. She believes a lot of people are more interested in serving themselves than him.

I agree that Spicey is among the least of their problems.
All the GOPe and Democrat staffers they brought in, along with the larger number of political appointments they haven’t got around to making such that Obama loyalists are in top positions, leading to the policy changes and backstabbing that come with such disloyal staffing are of far greater concern.
And most of the messaging that needs to be improved in the admin comes from a higher position than Spicey’s day-to-day sparring with the jackals.
I agree. She has a jarring accent that doesn’t help her either.
I’d like to see Laura Ingraham brought in to run the entire WH communications structure and be a part of Trump’s senior advisory team as well.
She could pick a qualified and impressive press secretary, who should probably be out there battling the hyenas less often anyway.
Weekly press briefings would be a mistake IMO. The MSM won’t stop with their anonymously sourced ‘stories’, they’ll just write them with a ‘the WH was too afraid to answer questions, so it must be true’ line of spin as well. Reducing the number of briefings reduces the opportunities for the WH to fight back against the lies, as well as explain the good things it is actually doing.
No-one does more to shoot down all the media nonsense than Spicer at the daily briefings. He needs backup is all. Assign one of his deputies as ‘fake news’ press secretary, and he can refer any of the media’s BS questions to that person so he can keep the briefing focused on the important stuff.
If the media still want answers to their silliness, they can stay behind and get it at a later briefing with the deputy.
+1
Monthly except if it is warranted, then summit your questions in writing and keep your trap shut other wise. Is what I’d go for. Tired of these scum LIARS FAKE NEWS makers.
Once a week press briefings are more than enough with serious procedure regs. Anybody breaking the rules would have his/her press creds pulled and be barred from future briefings. This would stop the present kindergarten free for all process they have now.
He usually looks extremely uncomfortable.
Yes!
Any “gotcha” question should get Hillary’s “asked and answered” treatment.
Or Spicer could say, “I’ll get back to you after I answer all the serious questions. Next...”.

A loving wife cares for and defends her husband.
This is not news!!
One of many examples
Remember Gisele defending Tom Brady after a stunning loss.

I would think Sean probably is doing the best job possible. I think Trump moves on his own and the team has to catch up.
Toughest job in Washington.
