Former GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz once went on The Late Show and asked Stephen Colbert if he could humanize him.
Colbert was explaining to an audience at New York mags Vulture Festival on Saturday that audiences can smell a prepared answer from a politician.
I dont want to betray my guest because theres what happens on-camera and off-camera, but I guess its okay because I dont think [Ted Cruz] understood what he was asking, the 53-year-old host said.

Pull your head out of your ASA, he is on our side and actually is helping the President....
Yes...I can’t believe he’s that stupid - in the sense that he doesn’t underestimate the main stream media like that.
LOL Yes he does
I see you buy into the fake news sites also
Nope but i saw him elbow his wife once on tv at a holiday inn
Neither can be Humanized’ because they both are full of feces and political animals.
You first need the ability to understand retards and realists.
Neither can do either.
Apparently this happened a long time ago, during the primaries. Why is this news now?
Meanwhile both Hillary & Obama put on a fake “black” accent to connect to audiences, Biden leaks secrets, Corey Booker makes up a fake dying addict named T-Bone, Elizabeth Warren is an American Indian, Bill Clinton cries on cue...
I am betting it’s true.
I will never trust Ted Cruz again.
For the first time in my life (63), I sent Cruz a donation early on. Then he voted for TPP, and I cursed him in an email.
Can I get my $5 back?
The two best responses to interviewer shenanigans were Tom Selleck walking off Rosie O’Donnel’s set. And Charlton Heston plucking off his mic and walking away from Michael Moore.
You can’t win when you walk into a set-up. Best thing to do is leave the way way you came. Those two knew it. GOP pols think they can walk into their dens and beat the goblins. They rarely fight hard enough to win and that’s the only chance they have if they stay to play their circular gotcha games.
He’s falling into Letterman’s old schtick. Wouldn’t be surprised if the suits at CBS told him to pick it up. He’s just preaching to his choir.
Ted Cruz is stupid to think that Colbert would help him improve his image. But even if Colbert agreed, it is not possible to “humanize” a mutant breadman like Ted Cruz.
Shouldn’t Cruz be more concerned about HIS own accomplishments?
More so than late night comedians’ portray of him?
I haven’t seen enough from Cruz to win me over yet. But he can definitely try harder.
lol
Colbert might have bought himself a year - at most. CBS is still going to dump him for Corden after mid-terms...
At least he realizes he is not perceived BY ANYONE as a genuine human being. Not even his own daughter.
That’s a good first step, right?
Apparently Cruz recognizes Colbert as an expert.
“Why is this news now?”
Because the emotional dwarf is likely to challenge Trump for the GOP nomination in 2020.
Cruz graduated 5 years ahead of me so I didn’t know him. But I know the type all too well. The Ivies are full of 20 year old men who have decided they are going to president and create a personality they think can make that happen. Granted, most of them are not devoutly religious conservatives, but it’s still the same process by and large.
More than anything, the thing that made Trump so successful was that it was obvious that his personality - as insane as it is - was the genuine article.
