He was amazed that one HP or TI electronic calculator around that time, that he could hold in the palm of his hand, had more processing power than the giant mainframes he started working with. My paternal grandfather was born in 1906. He once told me that, in his opinion, he'd lived during the best possible time in human history, because of the incredible amount of technological change that occurred during that time.
In his youth, America moved by horse and buggy. In his early sixties, men were walking on the moon. When he died, Windows 95 was only three years away from release.
