I agree with the second part - as long as Trump holds his supporters, he cannot be impeached. The first part - NOPE...this does damage. If I were a Dem on TV trying to split the Republican Party down the middle (thereby isolating Trump supporters), I’d say something like “...even Ted Cruz agrees that Trump has caused many of his own problems”.

Agree. The media and the liberals are screaming “WOLF! WOLF! WOLF!” There is no wolf. More and more people will start to ignore the media and liberals.
At the end of the day, the question is, “What did you accomplish?”
By time the 2018 elections roll around, people will have forgotten all this minutia.
Things will change if Republicans lose their majority in the House and Pelosi takes over. In which case, the game is over.
