One thing I've noticed is that some very vocal Democrats have been completely silent in recent days. Other than dingbats like Maxine Waters and Elijah Cummings who represent low-IQ constituents and have no fears of causing any political damage to themselves, it seems like the "usual suspects" have all gone silent in recent days. That tells me one or both of the following is at work here:

1. The Democrats never expected the Trump administration to actually appoint a special counsel in this case.

2. Many Democrats are alarmed at the prospect of President Trump leaving office through a resignation or impeachment.
