House Republican leadership is agitated after the Washington Post published a transcript from a secret recording of one of the inner-sanctum conversations in the office of Speaker Paul Ryan.
The transcript shows House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy joking with his colleagues that then-candidate Trump and California Republican Dana Rohrabacher were both on the payroll of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"The unknown is frustrating," said one senior GOP aide, referring to the possibility that this wasn't the only private leadership conversation that was secretly recorded. Keep reading 210 words
Behind-the-scenes: House leadership sources have pored over the article and are privately discussing theories about where the leak came from:
---snip---
The most widespread theory in House leadership is that the secret recorder and the leaker was Evan McMullin, who as a former leadership aide participated in the June 15 conversation and confirmed the private conversation to the Washington Post.

Who is recording who? I actually wonder if Trump knows Comey knows of recordings and put him on notice that the spying on Trump is known and can be uncovered. And, yes, I hope he recorded the weasel Comey. He’s perjured himself to Congress, this would further out him as a liar.
Its a guarantee everything in D.C. is recorded.
Probably because McMuffin is a Never Trumper and so are the others.
“...I think the plan is to get Ryan to Presidency....”
IF they ever managed to pull that stunt off, Eddie Munster wouldn’t last a week.
If one tells the truth it shouldn’t matter. Exposed them as lying hypocrites
Anyone on line should expect everything to be recorded too.
You have to wonder why there are no leaks of recorded Dem conversations.......
Amen! Nothing (NO THING) is ever off the record!
Any public person in government or in business has to assume that anything he says is being recorded and a joke recorded without context becomes a deadly serious expression of intention or relationship.

Its occurred to me that rather than having a leaker that maybe the White House itself is bugged.
If you have a clear conscience, why worry?
Funny.... this is the same group of creeps that BASHED trump when the secret recording of Billy Bush and Trump was released.
What goes around comes around..... HA!
If one tells the truth it shouldnt matter. Exposed them as lying hypocrites
I think you are missing an important point. The left will cut and dice what is said to make their points.
If a Congresscritter says. “It is ridiculous to say that Trump is guilty of collusion with the Russians”, what will be played and pushed on the media will be “Trump is guilty of collusion with the Russians.
Truth is not a complete defense against these tactics. The perpetrators have to be exposed and discredited, possible prosecuted.
These were private gatherings. The real question is who in your caucus is recording and then leaking? I put money on this being someone who doesn’t like Trump. There is an off hand chance that someone is out to get Kevin...which is probably wise
I don’t think they realize we’ll being spelling out “Not My President” with bullet holes...

I think you are right.
Who is suspected of “leaking” this secret conversation that was recorded on June 15, 2016, none other than Evan McMullin. In August 2016, McMullin launched a presidential campaign in the 2016 election for President of the United States, as an independent candidate. Things that make you say hmmm.
Just who was paying McMullin to record secret Republican meetings? McMullin has been pushing this “Russian Connection” for a long time. President Trump needs to find out just who is behind McMullin. From Wikipedia “In a February 2017 op-ed, McMullin wrote that “President Trump’s disturbing Russian connections present an acute danger to American national security.” He called upon congressional Republicans to “recommit to patriotic prudence” and “demand that Attorney General Jeff Sessions appoint an independent special counsel to investigate Russia’s assault on American democracy and Mr. Trump’s possible collusion with the Kremlin.”

The transcript of the meeting includes one very curious statement from Paul Ryan, discussing his meeting with the Ukrainian Prime Minister. He is saying what Russia is doing to Ukraine is what they are doing to us, “financing our populists, financing people in our governments to undo our governments, you know messing with our oil and gas energy, you know all the things Russia does to basically blow up our country.”
Cathy McMorris Rodgers emphatically says “Yes!”
Meanwhile the conversation was most likely recorded by Evan McMullin who is pushing the Russian connection. Talk about propaganda.
