Recent tests have shown that many 80s and 90s computerized vehicles are actually far more resistant to HERF and EMP events than previously thought. Seems the bodywork and early “we’re not really sure what kind of interference issues we’re going to have so double the shielding” designs are quite a bit better than had been anticipated. This is why police have not installed HERF devices on cruisers or as standalone devices to stop high speed pursuits.

Some major network (can’t google up which one) took a car to China Lake CA to expose it to some microwave type energy to test a home brewed device with weapon potential.

So they got a rental car. Flew in, needed a car, right? They got a Corvette. The device killed the engine of the car as it sat running.

OOOOh. Baaaaad.
