SDF commander Rojda Felat: The #Tabqa Dam has been fully captured by Syrian Democratic Forces. #Tabqa city is fully under #SDF control
Now it will be on to Raqqa. The capital of ISIS.
Thank God for these accomplishments.
So is the SDF the government or rebel forces?
Looks like a Russian navy shirt under her BDU blouse.
I don’t know, but Syrian Kurdish women like bright colors. fact
SDF have never sought to overthrow the Assad government. They are always wary of Assad. They know how he operates. North Syrian Kurds have long history of being tolerated by Assad. Not always treated fairly, but not in revolt.
They had fought for recognition as a part of a Syrian Republic. Assad has not agreed to that.
But no, the SDF is not one of the Rebels. And the SDF has relationships with both US and Russia.
In this case, it makes sense.
This civil war needs a program to keep all the factions strait. My first thought was are these the good guys or the bad guys. My second thought involved Monty Python’s “Life of Brian.”
Just wondering: Does the dam qualify for prisoner rights under the Geneva Convention?
Given all of the fog of war ongoing, I think there are two particular videos to watch that give some clarity on what’s happening in Syria.

Short version: Assad has no rational reason to use chemical weapons when America’s Sword of Damocles is hanging over his head...but the jihadis have very rational reasons to make it look like Assad did.
What’s gonna happen once it’s just Syria and SDF, Tex?
Great news. I’ll bet ISIS loves being defeated by women!
No, they hate it. Especially if they are killed by a woman.
The think they don’t get to paradise if a woman kills them. No 72 virgins. smile.
My YPJ friends tell me they make a trillie sound when going into battle and the ISIS hate that. smile.
But I so love the ideal of hit happening to those ISIS baby butchers.
By the way, Rojda lost 20 family members at a wedding due to an ISIS bombing. She took up arms then from what I am told.
Her is a photo group that has her in it. Joey L. is great photographer.
Welcome to Raqqa https://joeyl.com/blog/all/post/welcome-to-raqqa (commander Rojda Felat)
She is the real deal.
I’m sure there a Excel SS with macros somewhere to follow this.
Correct. SDF is primarily secular and has the goal of Republican reforms in Syria. They’re opposed fully to IS, Al Nusra, AL Qaeda, Hezbollah, and all authoritarian outsiders.
HalleluYah!
RE Does the dam qualify for prisoner rights under the Geneva Convention?
Yes, you’re damn right they do.
Well, SDF doesn’t necessarily have a beef per se with the Syrian government. They want the Damascus regime to become a Federal type system, but they don’t wan’t to overthrow Assad to do it. Also, Russia has ties with both the SDF and the Assad regime, so it can maybe broker a arrangement.
I hope that is the result. Regardless, they will need someone big enough to protect them against being over run.
Ideal situation would be US and Russia both offering help. Not sure that is possible. But would help.
Assad himself is not enough. This is not a civil war, it is outside forces that cause it.
Obama and Hillary and Kerry & cast of others contributed to this mess. They did it for the money.
They know without outside protectors, Assad will crush them too. But he does owe them. This is a huge thing they have done for keeping Syria together.
Nobody has a way to know what the future is. I want the best for them. Like them very much.
