A curious belief in some circles of journalism holds that if both sides are equally unhappy with your story, youve done a good job. I never subscribed to that approach, and thankfully, President Trump didnt when it came to the performance of James Comey.
The suddenly former FBI boss was long cavalier about making enemies among both Democrats and Republicans, as if going rogue repeatedly proved his rectitude. On occasion it did, but Comey increasingly wore his self-righteousness on his sleeve, confident he was too big to fire.
That was his fatal mistake. And its why Trump made the right decision to show him the door.
Comeys power-grabbing arrogance is why I called him J. Edgar Comey two months ago. His willingness to play politics, while insisting he was above it all, smacked of Washington at its worst. He was the keeper of secrets, until they served his purpose.

“In what other profession does anyone say that if no one likes your work, that means you’re doing a good job?”
Yea, that would get me fired.
Obviously, it got Comey fired also.
That's the PC influence, there can be no winners, only participants. The real belief should be, if the MSM doesn't like our story it's because we reported the facts without the liberal bias.
I’ve heard that said about trial judges.
It’s really just an ego thing; it makes them feel like they’re the most important and connected group of people, that they’re the center of attention, and that they’re creating how the news gets discussed. Just reporting news is kinda boring, if you think about it. Gotta spice it up.
“journalism holds that if both sides are equally unhappy with your story, youve done a good”
Shouldn’t the standard be: Report the facts and let the chips fall where they may?

Comey friend of Hillary had to go before files come up missing.
Why? Because of very serious conflict of interest in regards to the Hillary Clinton email server scandal. Remember, Comey was on the Board of Directors of HSBC Holdings when HSBC Bank gave a multimillion-dollar donation to the Clinton Foundation.
I worked for several small-city dailies years ago, and often heard the same silly sentiment: if both sides are mad, you must be doing something right.
My reaction was always: maybe you just screwed up the whole damn thing.
Every Democrat in DC wanted Comey fired until Trump did it.
