Nuke the deer.
Biological engineering gone amuck? When we mess with nature, intentionally or otherwise, bad stuff can happen.
Looking at the number of cases... I wonder how that compares to how many people got hit by lightning.
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
I don’t believe this. How does a deer develop such a disease which is passed onto the tick which in turn gives it to us. Why is there no mention of this about pets catching this? It is sad when you have to disbelieve half of what you hear or see anymore.
Garlic in your bloodstream has been shown to reduce tick bites.
Powassan dates back to 1958.
Who knows how many people “caught” it and never had any symptoms sufficient to call for seeing a doctor?
Wonderful, I live in Riverhead NY which is like the tick capital of the world. Just walking down the street and you can get 3 or 4 of them. I found one yesterday on my neck and I don’t know if I should mention this, but I will anyway, last year I had one on my nut. Gee, you can imagine how happy I was to see that, I hate those things with a passion and of course we can’t use DDT because that is environmentally unsound.
“There is no specific treatment”
Gee, even more great news.
WND is known for its rightist sensationalism... I hate it, because by association it gives more common conservatism a bad name as total nuttery.
Pets get Lyme disease. They get tested for it in Minnesota.
Math challenged editor.
My previous dog got a tick disease when he was still young, maybe 3 or 4. He almost died before they decided what it was, quit eating and such. Very hard to watch.
But anyway, I guess this one is only in 10-11 states (so far).

Sounds like Yogi Berra is the editor there. LOL.
Right nuts got it from left nuts.
Call in the squirrels.
Tics are attracted riding lawn mowers for some reason.
Guess what! there is a Lymes vaccine for dogs but not for humans. Soon they'll develop a canine Pow vaccine.
My dog just had a blood test done and tested positive for Lymes. Vet wanted to give her a vaccine. I said no way. I'm not paying for my dog to be a guinea pig.
