I simply don’t understand why more people can’t see this like car insurance. You have to buy it BEFORE you wrap your car around a tree. No one wants to talk to you when you call ‘em up and say, “Uhhhhhh ... you don’t know me, but I have this problem ...”
Well, I’ll post what I always post, to at least give another Freeper side to the story.
I have a heart defect, therefore, I have never been able to get health insurance, never...there was not one single company that was willing to sell me health insurance.
I had insurance for years through my employer, but they cancelled all health insurance, so I went on COBRA, but that expired after 16 months and I was SOL, not one company anywhere would sell me health insurance.
Now, I have it, due to O-Care abolishing the pre-condition refusal.
I know there are Darwinist Freepers here who think that if my heart ruptured and I didn’t have $750,000 in the bank to pay the hospital and surgeon, that I should just die.
Well, I personally think that’s barbaric, it’s a throwback to the days when the old, sick, weak and lame were left outside to die from the cold or wolves.
Rationally speaking, we’ve moved past letting non-millionaires die because no one is willing to sell them life insurance...and any new bill must include pre-condition help or it won’t pass.

For the same reason there are restrictions on salt licks during hunting season, it would be immoral to just yank the rug all at once. It has to be phased and would never get enough votes to even start in the right direction if that isn't in the wording - reality bites but for most of us it's an inconvenient pest - for some it would be like getting thrown back into the ocean after being rescued.
