Pregnancy, sexual assault and domestic violence could be considered "pre-existing conditions" that make it hard to keep insurance coverage under the Republican health care bill, according to a number of news articles and social media posts
The bill doesn't specifically refer to any of these things, and headlines suggesting that it does are misleading.
But the bill does allow insurers, in limited circumstances, to charge more for a health condition that existed before the patient's coverage starts if that person has had a lapse in insurance. Because of that, there might be the potential in some states for a pregnant woman to be charged more for coverage.

the enemy is mentally sick and vile. Trust them to do anything it takes to try and take down Trump.
More FAKE NEWS!
Getting hit upside the head with a clue-by-four can be considered a pre-existing condition.
The way these morons are reporting it, people would think that if you already had insurance that covered maternity care and you got pregnant, you wouldn’t be covered. Next thing you know it will be a right to get home insurance as it is burning down.
Yep. It pre-existed right before a emergency room visit.
Pregnancy, if conception date was before insurance coverage effective date, was a non covered preexisting condition on individual and many group policies.
“pre-existing conditions”
This is insurance, folks. You don’t buy it when you get sick, but continuously before you get sick. How about I call up So-n-So Homeowners Insurance and try to buy insurance when my house is burning down? Buy GEICO car insurance and AAA after the fact so I can have my wrecked car towed and repaired ...
Yes, there are instances where someone had an unfortunate lapse in insurance and something new comes up. Those are the tough cases. But you can’t expect to go without insurance until you need something that costs big bucks. Everyone has to pay in on a continuous basis to make it work. You can’t bet on a horse after the race results are in.
So if a woman waits until she is pregnant to sign up for health insurance she has to pay more than someone who isn’t? Outrageous! Sexist!

Yes we know, they want to deliver a meme that “could happen” if it is at all possible means “universally” it WILL happen with no evidence that that will be the case. Insurers will put cases in their own context, as to whether it will be classed a “pre-existing” condition or not, and what, if any, limit that might imply about coverage or covered benefits.
Another big lie being perpetrated about this that the “preexisting conditions” issue means that just because there is some “preexisting condition” that an insurer will not insure the person at all. That is rare. What it has mostly meant when it has been applied is coverage/benefits for the specific preexisting condition have been denied.
This can all be solved by getting the whole thing out of the employers, unions and governmental units hands with all health insurance a persons own policy, which an employer might contribute to paying/part-paying something towards the monthly premiums. Then “preexisting conditions” will be much rarer of an issue, because coverage stays with the person, even as they change employers/employment.
Pre-existing conditions?
Pregnancy? What next?
How about, the tendency to be violent? Or to commit sexual assaults? (Ask Bill Clinton about that last one).
How about, attraction to children? Certainly, some lawyers (mostly liberal ones) can make the case that, pedophiles can’t help themselves).
How about attraction to animal sex?
Anything can be “justified” and “rationalized” as a “pre-existing” condition.
It’s just a matter of concentrating on one or two of those issues at a time, but eventually, all “weird” behaviors will be judged to be “pre-existing” condition, from birth or later.
So, with pre-existing conditions getting redefined...
We can soon expect laws to guarantee that those who were born a girl or boy with the wrong bodies, will be allowed to get sex-change operations at tax-payers’ expense, under Obamacare or “Trump”care.
BUT IT WORKS. We always allow the Democrats to steer the narrative. They are SO MUCH BETTER at messaging than we are. Where is leadership?
Pregnancy can be treated as a pre-existing condition in some cases. When pregnant with my firstborn and the company changed health insurers, the new company tried to say they didn’t have to cover it. I had to take it up with legal to say “she didn’t cancel this coverage and start a new one voluntarily, you have to cover this.”
That said, you start a new job with health insurance, and they may not cover the pregnancy and may not cover any births in the first year of employment.
The other stuff is totally BS. When you are raped or beat up, immediate medical care for the new incident is a new issue the health insurer must cover.
The problem is “I need 5 years counseling for my rape” or “I need my health insurance to cover the counseling related to my ongoing domestic abuse”. Only that is a long term issue that could be considered pre-existing - and the woman in these cases need better support to piece themselves together faster.
If all the costs are socialized, conservatives have a basis for saying we need to limit the sexual habits of others since we have to pay for 1/4 or so of young adults getting STD treatment every year, the 100K per year for each one with AIDS, the massive expenditure for every hepatitis case.
If you can micromanage our diets and activity, we can use the same to limit your sexual activity.
Pre-existing conditions “ is code-speak for AIDS-HIV.
