BALCH SPRINGS -- The officer who shot and killed 15-year-old Jordan Edwards has been fired.
In a news conference, Balch Springs Police Chief Jonathan Haber said the officer, Roy Oliver, violated department policies, but won't elaborate which policies. Oliver has been with the department since 2011. He has 10 days to appeal.
Jordan Edwards was killed in front of his brother as they were leaving a party over the weekend. Neighbors said a large house party was underway at the time. Balch Springs police said officers responded to a report of intoxicated teenagers on a residential street in the 12300 block of Baron Drive Saturday night.

When you shoot a kid and your story changes, it is usually bad news.
You think?
You mean if you shot a 15 year old kid who was sitting in the passenger seat of a car and then you claimed that the car was coming towards you instead of away from you, that you might be in trouble with the law?
Yeah, when you put it that way I think anyone could kill a kid and the say “oops, my bad,” get fired and then go on to another job and that would be the end of the matter.
“You gotta love cops. The guy kills someone and his punishment is: He’s fired. You and I would be looking at hard time if we did something like this.”
I am a supporter of “good law enforcement.” As a society we need that. But all too frequently, we have some guy with a badge and a gun wearing size 44 coveralls and a size 4 hat making ill-informed life and death decisions. Somehow, we have to engage in severely punishing LEOs who take civilians lives where it isn’t warranted. The idea that this sort of punishment will be detrimental to the overall performance of our cops is bullshit! And the one thing that needs to be addressed more fully is the “no nock warrant.” That is an invitation to a gunfight when the occupants are simply people trying to protect themselves.
Let’s say the car was in reverse backing towards him, why then shoot the passenger and not the driver in the first place?
Or better yet why not just get out of the way?
for those of us here in their mid 50’s or older, before we had Unions in the 60’s and early 70’s, if a Cop shot ANY UNARMED Person, they were Immediately Terminated, Arrested and Prosecuted for Manslaughter. The Vast Majority got 5 Years in Prison. Needless to say we Rarely had Police Officers Shooting unarmed people.
We also had pretty stringent Standards to be a Police Officer until the Early 70’s when Lawsuit after Lawsuit forced the Sissies in Government to Lower the Standards for certain minorities and females.
Im not saying I agree with what he did, I’m just trying to figure out his thinking. How does shooting the passenger stop the car?
I think the shooter has much bigger problems than being fired.
That’s why you generally don’t shoot at a moving vehicle unless it’s moving right at you. If the vehicle was in reverse, coming right at him, he would at least had an excuse and whoops, he missed the driver.
That's what I was wondering. If in reverse, he shot the passenger. If moving forward away from him, he shot the passenger. I think he had a rifle, but how do you shoot the passenger! If he's that bad a shot shooting under duress, he should not be shooting at all. Firing isn't enough, he needs to go to jail.

When will he be charged with murder?
Batch Springs is in Dallas County and that leaves the murder charge question up to the Dallas County DA, the indictment up to a Dallas County grand jury, conviction up to a Dallas County jury.
There was video of the incident.
The initial report was that car was backing up towards the police officers.
The police chief reviewed the video and saw that the car was moving away from police when the teenager was shot.
The video allowed the police chief to make his decision.
Now it is up to a Grand Jury.
You don't pull out a rifle and shoot people who are driving away from you.
I back the BLUE, but I am not going to support bad shootings by a police officer.

The video needs to be kept secret while the DA and Grand Jury investigate.
Police across the nation may be in danger because of this bad shooting.
The only good news is that IDIOT Obama is no longer president. He made police targets after a suspect in Baton Rouge tried to shoot police officers.
In that case, then president Obama MOUTHED OFF and caused shootings in Dallas and Baton Rouge.
Need to put him back on a yacht somewhere and aware from the press.
In the case of the Baton Rouge shooting:
1. Homeless person called 911 because Sterling (suspect) was waving gun.
2. Suspect (300+ pounds) got in wrestling match with two police officers and tried to shoot them. I saw someone post on the Internet that the suspect Sterling did get a shot off.
3. Suspect Sterling had a long criminal record, and probably would have got in trouble for having a gun on him.
In the Baton Rouge shooting, I believe it was a shooting that followed departmental policy.
But then DINGBAT president Obama MOUTHED OFF about it, and shooting of Police followed.
