Yes that’s what it was, fiscal 2017 which was Obama’s. It wasn’t supposed to come up for Republicans to consider.

Yep! And there will be a completely different Congress, and Speaker, for fiscal 2018!

...oh, wait...

There will be more things on the table when time to make the budget for the next fiscal year starting October 1st, things very dear to dims and RINOs I am sure. Things that can be used as leverage. This budget was supposed to be the budget of the previous administration but they were hopeless at getting budgets done so the last quarter of the previous fiscal year had to be done.

The thing is many government contracts go to the end of the fiscal year so hard not to fund them until then. It would be chaos to de-fund something that has contracts until the end of the fiscal year. Also hard to fund new things, too hard to make new contracts for just a quarter of a year.

I think it would have been foolish to make this a big budget battle. If it turned into a battle, the focus would still be on this battle of funding through September when the budget for the next fiscal year needs to be addressed. It would have created a budget battle lasting several months, led to more continuing resolutions instead of real budget for the next fiscal year.

I hope things will be different when the actual budget is being done for the next fiscal year, but if the votes are not there Trump and no one else can force Congress to vote his way.

RINOs are and have been an issue for a long time; they fundamentally agree with dims on so many issues it isn’t funny.
