Trump deserves no pass on this. If he does not veto this bill and go to the country he will have forfeited the allegiance of any conservative with conscience.

OMG, what a drama queen! Get over yourself. Your statement is asinine on its face.

As usual, the #NeverTrump crowd is most in hysterics over this.

Oh, and thanks for informing us that "any conservative with conscience" must now withdraw their allegiance. Just idiotic.

Last time I checked, there still some time left in this administration, so pardon some of us "conservatives with consciences" for not taking your dubious advice.

President Trump will be presenting his own budget come September. That's when a shutdown might be contemplated.

The shortsighted thinking on this CR issue is just ridiculous. One must know when to pick one's battles, and this isn't the time for a government shutdown. The President is already thinking about the future.

You seem to have little understanding of timing and the use of political capital. President Trump knows he has a RINO Congress, and there's little to be done about that for the time being. Certainly a government shutdown this early on would be extremely ill-advised. But you already knew that.

Maybe he won't sign the CR, but, in any event, you should take your disappointment up with the GOPe Congress, not the President. And try to limit your gratuitous advice about what Trump supporters need to do with their allegiance, since you are not a supporter of this President.

By all means, please do withdraw your allegiance—which never really existed, of course—because there's no need for your apocalyptic hysteria around here.

You are correct to some extent. However, we are not stupid...we know the Senate and Congress is brimming with “go along to get along (elected) traitors. The Republican party abandoned us as a voting bloc many, many years ago. They simply exist to enrich themselves by playing with “smoke and mirrors”, to which the public is totally fixated on and dazzled with their brilliance. However, with each remarkable show (or stunt) the perform, we lose even more of our culture and freedoms. Nathan (even though not residing in the U.S.) is a very old member of FR and has never wavered off of the conservative causes.

Normally I don't bother responding to your personal attacks as you continue to stalk me through the Internet but this time I have a collateral point which I make for the benefit of the reader.

It is your habit to call me a "Never-Trumper" which I have consistently denied for the simple reason that it is not true. As I have stated many times I have supported Trump after his nomination and even after his election. I suppose I confused party loyalty, even in it's bastardized condition, with support of Trump's candidacy after his nomination. Today, I criticize Trump when warranted and praise him when deserved.

Now I find myself in the position of regretting my honesty in denying the honorific which you insist on bestowing on me. The time is rapidly approaching when there will be many on these threads who will lay claim to having been a Never-Trumper but I unfortunately will have been clear on the record that, alas, I do not qualify for the honor.

I will have to content myself when the reckoning is made that Donald Trump will have proved my predictions concerning the bona fides of his conservatism to have been all too terribly vindicated.

Congress needs to be passing appropriation bills for FY 2018 BEFORE October 1, 2017. Any spending not in one of these appropriations will require another continuing resolution. Is THAT continuing resolution the one.that TRUMP WILL VETO (resulting in a “government shutdown”) if it doesn’t include authorization to spend money to build the wall? Is THAT when the battle will be joined? Promise us that!
