Octogenarians are sprightlier now than they were in the past.

Okay, well I watch very few movies and would definitely never waste my time on any Warhol trash.

How often do Octagenarians jump out of buildings? Totally serious question. Very good point. Surviving to the age of 83, in itself, is evidence of considerable coping capacity. R.I.P.

47% of old people jump to their deaths every year. Please, where did you get that stat?

40,000 men and women every day. Another 40,000 coming every day. That is precisely why you don't see as many old people walking around as you otherwise would.

Didn’t Amy Vanderbilt, the author of etiquette books, also plunge to her death (not from the same building) as Gloria Vanderbilt’s son (and Anderson Cooper’s brother?)

Agreed. Edie’s strange family, the people who knew Edie and were interviewed for the book and the 60s “scene” described in the book were all more interesting than Edie herself.

Sad to see her come to this whatever her politics. Perhaps she was ill. They are indeed an establishment family.

What an odd headline to tell us she’s a “famous author” but not give her name. How famous could she be?
