Well, maybe it is folly. I’ve spent ten minutes searching scripture for anything that says Huffington Post authors should be burnt at the stake. It doesn’t seem to be there, yet that really seems like the moral thing to do. Since its not there, I guess it should not be done.

Being a Christian is SO difficult. You can’t just get your morals from any cat or goat you find in the alley! Unless you are a Methodist bishop, I suppose.

What would John Wesley do?

Wesley wasn't a Methodist pastor. He never left the Anglican church.

Just think, someone over at the Huffington Post put this article up for viewing BECAUSE they thought it was profound, insightful reading...just think about that for a moment.

A defining characteristic of a Progressive is their total lack of a sense of irony.

One of the signs of the End of Days is a “falling away” from the faith as the Church descends into the lukewarm swamp. Look up ! Your redemption draws near!

It starts out by saying that the lesbian bishop isn’t being chastised for any lack of personal virtue.

Isn’t living in contradiction to Divine and Natural a sure indication that, in that area of her life, she and her consort lack personal virtue?

They may be to each other good friends and sisters in Christ in other spheres of life, but sexually they are misusing a gift given to unite male and female in a lifelong, faithful and fertile Union.

It’s misplacing a sacred faculty outside of its sacred use. They may not realize this, but objectively it is not just perversion, but sacrilege.

Typo, second sentence: “Divine and Natural Law”

They are just upset that the congregation goes home and envisions the priestess licking the genitals of her girlfriend. That is so bigoted.

I attended my uncles funeral at a Methodist church in Portland, Oregon a few years ago. He had attended this church for many years, he hung in there with it like so many older people because of family tradition. The ministers there were all lesbians. At his service, the only mention of Jesus came from me and the guys he served with in the military.

In rejecting gay bishop, Methodist court shows the folly of relying on scripture for moral guidance

That's possibly the most ridiculous news headline I've ever seen in my life. Substitute the word "alcoholic" or "philandering" and the moral logic should be the same, from the church court's standpoint.

As a New Testament Christian, my church has always held that people who are exposed in sin, such as in the examples I gave, should never remain in church leadership. Such events are always a time for a change in leadership.

If a preacher gets caught cheating on his wife, he steps down as shepherd of the congregation, period. Such positions within a church hierarchy are not entitlements—and every congregant knows that every church leader is a sinner—but in cases where a known act of sin has being exposed, that is always a disqualification for continuing in leadership.

It's just common sense, and in following with the examples of the New Testament...

As l said, now we know where the Methodist church draws the line. Woman bishop OK, Lesbian OK, Lesbian Bishop no. At least not this year. Who knew they still had a line.

The Methodists just cannot bring themselves to have faith in God’s plain commands about sexual morality and marriage. They are wandering in a wilderness of their own making.

The author makes the classical equivalence that all homosexuals make; that their state is a result of love. I would that all men love all men, and all women love all women as well as all men loving all women and vice-versa. All of that is sanctioned by God. None of that involves sex. That’s where the lie comes in. Homosexuals are addicted to a sexual life-style and in their psychologically disturbed world view sex is love and love is sex.

It seems to me that someone w/ such little regard for scripture is not someone I'd go to for scripturial insight.

Nor should someone that flaunts scripture be a teacher of the same.
