The problem was not a recurrence of TB, but scarring on her lungs. She was 18 when she got TB, 30 when we married, and 61 when she died. This was before there was an antibiotic for TB. She had been treated by having the infected lung collapsed, by injecting air into her lung cavity.

My father died of TB in 1938-——my brother and I were 5 and 2,but neither of us, nor my mother, got it.
