Number 1, navigators took the jobs of agents/brokers and now we make less than a teacher and Number 2, how does a navigator know how long agents/brokers spend with their clients? I can promise you, it is much more than a navigator, we are educated, licensed and carry E&O insurance. The Federal Government needs to give us our jobs back and let agents/brokers help consumers like we have for years. If Navigators want to sell insurance, get a license, we welcome you into our industry. If not, leave the education to the experts! Defund the Navigator Program!

Richard G Green If they are so eager to advise everyone, why don't they do the legal and ethical thing and get an insurance license. School is sometimes difficult--does Harold think anyone can advise students because teachers "don't have time to spend all that time with students " doing their job?

all comers at a federally qualified health center (FQHC), a clinic tasked with helping low-income adults and children

He helps all comers. But the program is for low-income people. So how many non-low income are advised how to game the system? How many in Athens are college students who could be on their parents insurance? How many client students have middle and upper middle income parents and don't qualify ... except they claim they are poor?

I mistrust the Insurance salesman’s education (pitch), because first, he is a salesman.

So far, the Navigator seems more neutral. Unless his wage comes, maybe indirectly, from ‘selling’ bo-care.

“...since 2013, when the Affordable Care Act went into effect. Working out of the Athens Neighborhood Health Center, he estimates that he has steered about 1,400 people through the complexities of the federal health insurance exchange for Georgia.”

Only assisted 1400 people in four years, or 1.3 per work day. Same pay as teacher. Pay and benefits and facilities expense for four years is $400k. $285 per person assisted. Just wow.

How much ‘navigating’ do you need if many areas are down to only one provider?

And how much could premiums be dropped if the ‘navigators’ weren’t raking in a cut?
