"Fixer Upper" star Chip Gaines is being sued by two former business partners in a million-dollar fraud lawsuit.
According to court documents obtained by KWTX, John L. Lewis and Richard L. Clark, former co-owners of Magnolia Realty, claim Gaines bought them out of the company two days before HGTV picked up "Fixer Upper" which "prominently featured the 'Magnolia' brand name."
Lewis and Clark filed their 24-page lawsuit Wednesday in state district court in Waco, Texas, and are seeking more than $1 million in damages and non-monetary relief, KWTX reports.
The scorned business partners say Gaines bought their shares of Magnolia Realty for $2,500 each while working with HGTV on the future hit show.

Dumbest lawsuit reason I’ve ever heard of. Sounds like a set up to tarnish them.
Not everything immoral is illegal.
But what goes around comes around.
Hmm, and had HGTV declined the show, they would be where?...................
I think in this case it’s just a $ore Lo$er’$ ca$se..................
What is fair in a celestial sense is somewhere in between. I hope the new sole proprietor of Magnolia is happy with his reputation as back stabber.
$2500 poorer and stuck with a failing business. It obviously wasn’t a going concern or they wouldn’t have sold for that.
Wow, so he shrewdly bought out his partners before he struck it big.
I congratulate Mr. Gaines on his clairvoyance that his show would become a hit, instead of crashing and burning in near anonymity, like most attempts to create shows on basic cable.
And had the other proprietors walked out early, what would the show have been about?
I call bull!
He who lives by the sharp business shall die by the sharp business.
This is one reason why God raised up Linux to Microsoft.
There was an attempted hit piece on these two some time ago. Some folks were mad because they haven’t featured any LGBT buyers and they didn’t like the church they attend.

Buzz feed is cancer that needs to die now.
You know what makes Fixer Upper great? Chip and Joanna Gaines
$2500 each ain’t squat. It sure wasn’t worth much.
Wait, Chip Gaines pulled a Luca Brasi and made them sign the papers to dissolve their partnership?
“Either your signature or your brains will be on this paper.”
Yep. And if his business partners were willing to sell out for $2,500 each then the business wasn't worth squat. What kind of business would you be willing to sell for $2,500?
HGTV had to have known about these other partners while they were engaging Chip regarding the (then) planed TV show.
Sounds like the others weren't interested in taking their business down the "reality" TV venue, wanted out...and are now trying to claim what...that the TV deal was kept hidden from them when they sold out?
No, God smote SCO with Linux. Microsoft was only humbled.
