Are you aware of that big tar bluff just north of Carpenteria?

Right there on the beach, is a bluff and it’s got tar oozing out of it.

That is a characteristic of the transverse ranges in general.

Southwestern Ca has had petroleum seepage for longer than you and I have been alive.
