uh, folks, this isn’t news. I’ve heard Trump himself say border security is what is meant by “wall”. There are places, he said, where a physical wall isn’t optimal.

I agree - no actual wall is needed - just a very very wide mine field (1/2 mile) should do the trick. Some fencing on our side to prevent unnecessary cattle deaths would be nice, oh, and an access road for patrols with MA2s with orders to shoot anything in the minefield, no questions needed or wanted. Patrols should average at least every 30 minutes at each point (randomly) along the border.
There are many areas where a wall isn’t feasible, and may not even be the most effective means of protecting the border. And you are right, Trump has mentioned this, and others for a LONG time have been talking about it.
What bothers me is the media hyping this, and knowing that many people that voted for Trump based mostly on his talk of a “wall” will get pissed at Trump.

But Trump not fighting for border wall money is new.
He has done a fantastic job with Executive Orders.
However, he is allowing himself to be jerked around by congress.
When I was a kid we would quail hunt on cattle land, every now and then a coyote carcass would be hanging on the fence, always thought that was kinda cool.
Exactly - basic military engineering: use obstacles to funnel enemy into the preferred ground which is covered by overlapping direct fire and pre-planned indirect fire.
Those who say we don’t need a complete wall, or who want to use cameras and technology to interdict people at the border, if asked, will always say that we have “too much illegal immigration”. Implicit in this statement is that there is a different, lower amount of illegal immigration that is not too much.
Those who say we need a border wall take a more absolutist position. They are opposed to all illegal immigration, and feel that any amount is too much. They consider every illegal immigrant to be a lawbreaker, and want to make an effort to stop each and every one.
The latter was Donald Trump’s position during the campaign.
Now, it seems like he is moving into the Goldilocks position, that there is a level of illegal immigration that is “just right”.
This is non-negotiable to me. When you look at all of the refusal to treat illegal immigration as a crime and efforts designed to fail at the border... Well, that is how you get Trump.
But if the current President turns his back on his promises and joins the same camp,... Well... that is how you lose Trump.
I’ve been afraid to post this for fear of reprisal. Land mines are much cheaper and far more effective. The US military needs to clear out a one-mile strand along the border and saturate it with land mines. As Commander-in-Chief President Trump would not need congressional approval.
Make no mistake, Mr. Trump and Mr. Trump ally, you will be held accountable.
We are watching, and we are not in the mood for bullshit.
This is a pointless statement considering Trump has accepted the congress not funding one inch of wall construction.
All I know is when I consider my vote in 2020, I am first going to look for a completed wall.
If I do not see a completed wall, no Republican will get my vote.

There’s a really good fence up on long stretches of it. In other places there’s not much.
Allowing himself?? Or "crazy like a fox". All he needs to do is say...."compare my track record of action with that of the Congress" and follow up with "vote the GOPE delayers out" in the next Congressional elections.

You get caught illegally in this country, we deport you via plane of car on the first offense... second offense we deport you via cannon....after changing the elevation and angle slightly for each shot so they cannot setup a net in mexico....
After the first few second level deportations, the rest will self deport...
