American Indians are doing what American Indians have always been customarily doing, except that they can’t even be nomads anymore. If they kept on moving around, they would have to forever accommodate themselves to new surroundings. Sitting around on a reservation doubtless makes them b-o-r-e-d. The one grace of God that they had which kept their interest up, was taken from them, and none has replaced it. Why do you think they dream of happy hunting grounds in heaven? My brother worked construction in Montana. One of the Indian workers commented that if it wasn’t for the white man, he would be out riding the plains on his horse.

Brother had to remind him it was the white man that brought the horse.

Their romantic view of the past aint realistic and neither is ours I guess.

Hunters by nature?? BS....They simply didn't like work. That's what women were for. It was food and clothing....the reason we hunt today.

In the meantime, we also "get a job".
