Report: Nuclear-powered USS Michigan to arrive in South Korea
April 24 (UPI) -- A nuclear-powered U.S. submarine is to arrive at the South Korean port city of Busan on Tuesday, the same day North Korea is expected to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People's Army.
The USS Michigan, the second Ohio-class nuclear-powered guided missile submarine in the U.S. Navy, is to make a visit to South Korea to send a strong message of warning to Pyongyang, South Korean newspaper Donga Ilbo reported Monday.
The U.S. supercarrier Carl Vinson is also expected to arrive near the peninsula this week, a move that is being met with threats from North Korea.
"Our revolutionary forces are combat-ready to sink a U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier with a single strike," the Rodong Sinmun stated in an editorial.

Guided missile subs are converted boomers, that launch cruise missiles.
They can launch up to 154 tomahawks.
I was hoping that an SSGN or two would turn up over there.

Hopefully we have a bunch of Los Angeles, Sea Wolf and Virginias in the area.

They still use the Blue/Gold crew rotation, so it is likely that one is in port and three are at sea.
I believe we have four of them: Ohio, Michigan, Florida, and Georgia.
Add to that the 2 Arleigh Burkes and the 1 Ticonderoga with the Vinson.
Yes. 4 on a very regular schedule.

On patrol. A patrol/offcrew/refit schedule is about 180 days. At any given time, one boat is in the first 45 days, another is in the second 45 days, etc. when one crew is on patrol, the other is on offcrew. Each boat does this, so the only time that a boat is down is during the brief refit time at crew change and then it is back out on patrol again.
Our missile subs should always be unknown as to location since stealth is their survival ace. That said, let this one surface near South Korea, gets its picture taken and then submerge and disappear. Little Kim will get the message.

It is also the day before Trumps meeting with the Senators at the white House......and today he is meeting with the UN Security Council at the White House...which he has just stated the time to deal with N.Korea is now.
