New Orleans will begin taking down Confederate statutes, becoming the latest Southern body to divorce itself from what some say are symbols of racism and intolerance.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu says the first memorial will come down Monday night because of death threats and intimidation from some of those who want the monuments to stay and to minimize city disruption.

The other statues, of Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee and P.G.T. Beauregard and Confederate States of America President Jefferson Davis, will come down in following days. …

Could Landrieu lie a little more opaquely?

Lee Circle without Gen. Lee is going to be weird.

For the most part, people who actually live in New Orleans do not seemingly oppose to removal of the monuments.

However, I’m sure there will be some outside agitators who will protest the removal of the Confederate monuments.

I wouldn’t know who opposes or does not oppose from what I read in the media. Bad enough Landrieu’s claims are repeated as if gospel.

So the goal is to make believe history never happened? Is that it? Because some nitwits are *offended*?

The Civil War is part of our history as is Reconstruction. The Republican president freed the slaves. It all happened. Libs don’t get to erase it.

Those monuments are of significant historical value and should be preserved.

What’s next? The removal of all Christian churches and Jewish synagogues because they offend muslims?

“Bad enough Landrieu’s claims are repeated as if gospel.”

I don’t care what Landrieu claims.

When I’m in New Orleans, I don’t here many of the actual residents opposing the removal of the Confederate monuments. Now, if I go over to Jefferson Parish or down to St. Bernard Parish or Plaquemines Parish, I do hear opposition to removing the monuments.

Sure that’s not ignorance instead of assent?

The monument at Liberty Place has nothing to do with the Civil War and was built as a tribute to theDemocratic Party’s White League and their 1874 uprising to oppose and integrated government.

Bloomberg is a private citizen and he has simply expressed his opposition to a policy position of President Trump and that policy position of President Trump is not currently a law enacted by Congress.

In the novel “1984”, Winston Smith’s job was to edit history to match the current party line. Once again, the Ctrl-Left is using 1984 as a blueprint instead of reading it as a warning.

Understood. Not all of our history is pretty.

How can we learn from the mistakes of the past if the government erases all traces of them? You know they don’t teach history in the state indoctrination centers or colleges anymore, right? It’s been replaced with XYZ Studies.

Should the Holocaust museum be shut down, too? That’s pretty unsettling for a lot of people. But, it’s an important reminder of the inhumanity we’re capable of. It helps make certain we never forget.

Why would they not use it as a blueprint? One has to be personally destroyed by left-wing dogma to start listening to truth, once one has been brainwashed to believe in stuff like abolition of family, private property, religion and national borders.

And I’m sure the city will instantly become a wonderful utopia the following day, with everyone singing Kumbaya.

Really pathetic they do they because of that Roof idiot.

“Should the Holocaust museum be shut down, too?”

If a city builds a Holocaust museum they are also free to dismantle the Holocaust museum.

That Landrieu character does sound like a blithering idiot in every quote in that article.

I wonder what's next for the Left when they're finally done with their Confederacy tantrum. You have to know it doesn't end there. Maybe the growing Latino population in Texas will begin throwing fits over statues/monuments about the Texas Revolution and Mexican–American War?

Yes, we all get that it’s legal for a city to get rid of its historic statues.

And we all get that it’s legal for the jackass Bloomberg to undermine our president by editorializing for other leaders to oppose him.

But, really, who’s side are you on here?
