Bolton Warns: 'It Only Gets Worse' With North Korea

Former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton warned that the geopolitical situation with North Korea is bound to only get worse over time while calling to reunify the Korean Peninsula.

"The North Koreans – this very erratic, unstable regime – may soon have the capability to harm us directly," Bolton said in an interview with John Catsimatidis that aired Sunday on New York's AM 970.

"The real objective of the Trump administration has to be to convince China that it's in their best interest to find a way to reunify the Korean Peninsula as peacefully as possible," he added.

The former ambassador maintained that it is important to keep all military options on the table, while arguing that pushing China toward accepting reunification of the peninsula may be the only viable diplomatic option.

"If our main purpose is to prevent North Korea from having nuclear weapons, I think the only long-term assurance we have that that is achievable is by reunifying the two Koreas. Faced with the choice of using military force or trying to get reunification -- I think we always have to keep force on the table -- but if there's any diplomatic option left, it is pushing China towards accepting reunification," he argued.

Bolton also warned that North Korea is likely working on perfecting its submarine capabilities, making it possible for the country to send strategic submarines to the U.S. Pacific coast.

"If they can achieve that capability, they could put nuclear weapons on submarines that could get much closer to the United States … That might go undetected in the vast Pacific Ocean," he said.

Ironically it seems the south want reunification with the north.Seems the one Korea thing is bigger than many realize. Of course with Krazy Kim in charge that wont be a reality.
Seems he has to be taken out. Question is who will get the job done.

If they could go undetected in the Pacific..... could they then sneak into the Atlantic? What is the range of these subs before they need to refuel & resupply?

At least there's some movement...China and Russia both shoring up their borders.

Have a feeling the end game will wind up being a sea event. I'm sure we have eyes on their nuke capable subs.

Is it really in our interests to have Korea unified under a government established with the votes of millions of brainwashed communist North Koreans?

What would be in our interests would be a demilitarized North Korea which does not threaten its neighbors.

The only way to stop them is thru a nuclear preemptive strike.

Yes, Korean unification is a very big deal to Koreans.
At the same time, after decades of severe split we’re seeing a new generation who sees division as the norm, and sees the other side as undesirable. Not sure SK millennials are willing to give up real first world 21st century living to merge with incompetent emaciated drug addicts*.

Good post.No matter what happens it’s not going to be easy for either the North or the South. Nothing happens however unless fat kim is history.

“What would be in our interests would be a demilitarized North Korea which does not threaten its neighbors.”

Very true. All those bemetaled, big hat generals are dangerous in their own rights. I don’t see that a decapitation strike only killing Kim Jong Un will solve the problem. The North is a very sick society with many having a vested interest in continuing the repression.

I really thought Lil’ Kim would be more open to this whole reunification thing after Hillary finished using his wardrobe on the campaign trail.

This problem has been brewing for a long time and is now a threat to the west coast of the United States.

Notice that the last administration and campaign mode Hillary, were rather silent on the issue?

It's more of the mess that Trump was talking about.

Everyone needs to look at a map. Seoul is very close to the NK border. Supposedly there are more artillery tube capable of firing more shells into Seoul then were fired in WWII. It is estimated that within the first 10 minutes 100k - 300k residents of Seoul will be killed by this fixed in place and already sighted in artillery. By the end the day and all the artillery tubes are taken out 1 million plus residents of Seoul are likely dead. Seoul is effectively a hostage. The South Koreans with our support need to be the ones who decide this, for they will bear most of the costs.
