Sometimes a woman's deepest thoughts are best left unsaid, but the Princess Royal has never regretted once describing herself as 'not everyone's idea of a fairytale princess'. It was a deliberate message and the moment she laid the ground rules for her life as a professional royal. But everyone knew what she was getting at all those years ago.
In a celebrity-besotted world inhabited by pretty people endlessly proclaiming the message that physical beauty brings instant happiness, Anne was having to deal with being a real princess who is not blessed with chocolate-box prettiness.

Very interesting article——I knew virtually nothing about her.
Charles needs to he shown the door...
Interesting, thanks for posting.
In her 21st birthday picture, she is really quite pretty.
Who knew...People can be strange ...
Her Royal Highness The Princess Anne is highly popular in Britain. Her wedding was one of the most watched Television events in the history of the world, in the rough and tumble 70s.
Thanks for the post.
I was stationed in England in the 70s. By buddies and I referred to her as Prince Anne and Charles as Princess. LOL! We were ahead of the curve.
The article referenced is SEVEN years old. Odd, that.
Wasn’t she a total Ho?
Anne was quite pretty once. But notice that cold stare even then, which could freeze a Fleet Street reporter in ice with a single glance.
She was routinely depicted as a centaur in riding habit by Punch & others.
But one thing is certain, Princess Anne is a hard working Royal who takes her role with grim seriousness. The British people have gotten their money’s worth and then some.
Yes, she’s always taken after her parents more than her brother. And she’s not really ugly. It’s that she wears the worst hairstyle and clothes - so fuddyduddy. If you see her young and in her riding outfits, she’s not so bad.
Are you sure that isn’t Jane Asher?
Me too, RAF Mildenhall, 72-75
Because we are conditioned to remain surfs, to be led and starved or fed as those who took everything for themselves see fit. The end of the royals would also be the end of socialism in Europe if they were wiped out. Why in the world would entire nations want to support kings, queens and royal families that lorded over them for centuries, forced them to wars, killed them, etc., and now these princes and royals live rent free on stipends of 1.5M euros a year per family member in addition to property holdings. Some people are just cultural slaves.
