I remember the photos. At my time, they were just the front of a blues jacket, no back. Take the photos early in boot camp, why if you ever see a real collection, everyone has a “deer in the headlights” look. You are still in a bit of shock. Rather’s shiite eating grin is way out of place.

Burkett and Glenna Whitley exposed Rather whose colleagues at CBS sometimes referred to him as “an old Marine” or “ex-Marine.” Rather entered the Marine Corps in January 1954, was physically or emotionally unable to complete recruit training, and was discharged in May 1954 as being “medically unfit.”

He is a lying douchebag, so take with a grain of salt.
I’ve heard him interviewed on this topic, says he failed to disclose he had rheumatic fever as a kid when he joined, was discovered by a doctor after about 3 months and he was booted.
