This ^^^ is one of the only areas where I find fault with the Trump administration. They have left far too many Obama holdovers in key positions throughout the government.
It's perplexing and maddening.
Key phrase: “could be compelled”... to release documents.
Not sure what this ruling accomplishes?
Time to fire up the shredders!
Because many IRS officials and employees stand to lose their jobs and benefits and maybe even go to jail.
When does someone go to jail?
I think Comey will be hard to get rid ot. He has a 10 year contract and would probably have to get charged and convicted of something to be removed.
Hey Lois! Can you smell that?
That’s the aroma of Bubbette’s panties hanging from the bunk in a Federal prison. And she doesn’t shave.
The blind sheik died.
.
That’s the question of the day.
Did the judge grant her motion to quash public disclosure of her deposition?
The blind sheik is dead.
The FBI Director has a ten-year term, indicating his job is not permanent (see J. Edgar Hoover).
Director is not automatically replaced with a new administration, but still serves at the pleasure of the president. Director can be dismissed for ‘cause’, but ‘cause’ is undefined and broad.
See William Sessions and Bill Clinton.
Thank you for the ping!
This son a of Finnish Fish should be in jail at the very least.
Illegal IRS? Who in DC cares? Abuse of power by IRS? Who in DC cares? DC is not your government anymore.
Under the US Code Title 2 section 192, contempt of Congress is punishable by "not less than one month nor more than twelve months" in prison. BUT, it requires the Attorney General's cooperation in prosecuting. Good luck with that under the Obama administration.
Under a Trump-appointed US Attorney, it may be different.
RE: BUT, it requires the Attorney General’s cooperation in prosecuting
There is a flaw in the law then. In the case of Obama’s administration, it was the Attorney General HIMSELF ( Eric Holder ) who was held in contempt.
In that case, Trump needs to unload Comey. Or, perhaps Trump has some particular reason to keep him around for a bit. i hope it’s one or the other and not that DJT just hasn’t got around to it.
What is with all this court business? Trump can just fire the people blocking and order the release of everything.
Maybe the President doesn’t know enough great people to take the jobs or the great people don’t want the jobs. It didn’t take the last administration too long to infiltrate the govt with slime though. Are slimey dems more willing to take a pay cut for the cause?
