Scientists and academics in Connecticut and across the country will head out of the labs and into the streets on Saturday Earth Day to confront what one organizer described as a lack of respect for science among some members of Congress and President Donald Trump.
"The scientific method is not a partisan issue, it's not something that should be divisive," said Harrison Hayward, a fourth-year UConn medical student organizing a Hartford rally, which will begin at noon at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza.
Diane Krause, a professor at the Yale School of Medicine, is heading up a New Haven event, which starts at 1 p.m. in East Rock Park and will include a science fair and rally followed by a march.
Trump's campaign slogan was Make America Great Again, and "we know that our science is one of the things that has made us great," Krause said. She admitted that it was a little "weird" that people will be marching in the streets for science, and particularly for conclusions "we thought were obvious" and that have had bipartisan support.
"Facts have been questioned," Krause said, referring to statements Trump administration officials have made regarding scientific conclusions about climate change. "Hard facts are being questioned."

Probably not a working scientist in the bunch
I’m from Connecticut, as far away as I can get! Never been there and don’t plan on ever going there.
That's always the left's MO. Politicize everything and then claim that the right politicized it. They are always projecting
Take names and pull grants
OMG! The feed trough is going to go dry! Somebody DO something and quickly!
Scientists whoring for grants.
Undoubtedly after all the billions spent they came up with something of value. However, most of the money is spent on studies like why shrimp fight. With a twenty trillion dollar debt we cannot afford such luxuries.
Out of touch Ivory Tower “scientists” did what?
That is one of the main points of the cartoon.
Invent an emotional Theory.
Create computer models
Cherry-pick data
Pronounce the issue “Settled Science” and canonize the High Priests of your Religion - Gore, Paul Ehrlich, etc.
The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary. H. L. Mencken
Seconded. If they want to commit mass insubordination, they can do it on their own dime and time.
The Weather Channel has joined the scam. This week they’re doing something called “Science Week” that purports to present a “Fair Look” at “science”. What the Hell does that mean? Does science need a fair look? Why? So far their programming has focused on “Climate Change”, declared as an absolute.
I avoid WC for such reasons. Use AccuWeather when possible.
They made a mistake in the headline. These political - based idiots are really ANTI-SCIENTISTS who distort, lie and omit so as to advance their agenda and recieve grant money stolen from taxpayers. I suggest they do society a favor by committing mass harikari.
“The scientific method is not a partisan issue, it’s not something that should be divisive,”
And yet it is. Just tell your local professor you are a creationist. He’ll make sure you never make it far.
The cartoon was, indeed, quite clever.
I know right I guess everyone has a bad day with spelling..
What’s “Sciece”?
Global warming must have killed the “n”.
