Over the past 20 years at Fox News, I have been extremely proud to launch and lead one of the most successful news programs in history, which has consistently informed and entertained millions of Americans and significantly contributed to building Fox into the dominant news network in television. It is tremendously disheartening that we part ways due to completely unfounded claims. But that is the unfortunate reality many of us in the public eye must live with today. I will always look back on my time at Fox with great pride in the unprecedented success we achieved and with my deepest gratitude to all my dedicated viewers. I wish only the best for Fox News Channel.
Is Fox doing the right thing?
>> What say you?
Follow the Mike Pence rule...
And he will miss little hot chocolate most of all, and has fond memories of strawberry lemonade and ripe guavas as well. Look for the next in his series “Killing O’Reilly”.
Last July, after Gretchen Carlson sued the Murdoch-controlled 21st Century Fox and Roger Ailes, the then-head of Fox News Channel, for sexual harassment, Rupert Murdoch told his sons, both Ailes enemies, that paying off Carlson without a fight would mean more lawsuits. Easy-money settlements always bring more claims. James and Lachlan Murdoch, however, were eager to get rid of their nemesis, and the most direct way to do that was to accept Carlson’s claims after a quickie investigation and then use a big payoff $20 million to end the dispute and calm the storm.
Nine months later, the chickens coming home to roost, Fox has continued to collect a string of look-alike claims against Ailes and against ratings giant Bill O’Reilly, with a firestorm of recent press attention on what The New York Times is calling the “O’Reilly revelations.” What has been revealed is not evidence nor an admission of guilt but details of payments settling complaints against O’Reilly not a small distinction. You can assume maximal guilt, which the Times and other Fox haters do, or you can assume, as many lawyers do, that when there is money to be had, plaintiffs come out of the woodwork. (”Coming out of the woodwork” is a virtual term of art in big settlement tort cases).
And here are the new BS allegations:
Attorney Lisa Bloom announced Tuesday that she is representing a new client who is accusing OReilly of sexual and racial harassment.
Bloom did not reveal the identity of the new client but said that she called the hotline Fox News set up last week to investigate claims against OReilly.
The attorney told The Hollywood Reporter that her client was called hot chocolate by OReilly and was afraid if she told him to knock it off she'd get fired.
The minute you see Bloom's name, as the lawyer ( and/or her mother )...it's codswallop and utter garbage!
The lefties went after Roger, now they brought down Bill....so who is next, Sean ?
Anyone who is not a homosexual doesn’t belong on the air...
People don’t realize what’s happening to ‘the public square’. It’s a marketer’s monopoly. And marketers want the lowest common denominator of humanity.
Total spin, you pinhead...
Who’s going to pay for the next harassment complaint? He’s on his own now.
If you’d spent $13 million to settle claims under the condition of silence, what the heck would you say??
Short, sweet and to the point....looks like it’s his farewell.
Does it really matter if the allegations are true or not today? The idea was to make Fox itself look like a sex brothel to take them down....and we all know who wants them off the air.
no, they are not doing the right thing... the sons seem to be looking for FoxNewsLite..
personally, I will be forever thankful for O’R’s part in moving Trump along in the primaries and the election....
.....”This was an organized take down by the left (including Rupert’s sons)”....
Absolutely!..and their mother to boot!
FOX paid out 13 mill. Even for Murdoch that’s real money. I do not think that is done to simoly make something go away.
He would then be excused and exonerated of everything.
He says these allegations are completely unfounded. Who knows?
Women never have made false allegations before just to score a nice payday have they?
We shouldn’t need to accept a new “moral code” where we can’t be alone with a woman. That is the Taliban’s moral code, not America’s. Screw the left and their intersection of puritanism with liberalism.
