The New England Patriots are the professional sports team most closely associated with President Donald Trump, so it was fitting that they were the first championship team to visit Trump in the White House. Many of them visited on Wednesday, anyway. Many others skipped the trip.
Perhaps the most awkward moment of a fairly routine speech by a president to a winning team including owner Robert Kraft presenting Trump with a No. 45 Patriots jersey and coach Bill Belichick giving him a helmet came when Trump mentioned receiver Danny Amendola for his fourth-down catch in Super Bowl LI.
Amendola was one of the players who skipped the trip. The fourth-down conversion conversion by Danny Amendola, where is Danny? Trump said, looking back to the players behind him for Amendola before apparently being told Amendola wasnt there. Way to go, Danny.
Trump seemed to go out of his way to avoid mentioning players who werent on the White House trip, which made the Amendola moment stand out. He praised Trey Flowers for a Super Bowl sack, but didnt mention Donta Hightower, whose strip-sack was probably the biggest play of the game. Hightower wasnt at the White House.
Trump mentioned lesser-known players like Matthew Slater, Nate Ebner, Marcus Cannon and the offensive line, but didnt mention James White, who scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime of the Super Bowl. White reportedly wasnt at the White House visit.
And, notably, Trump never mentioned quarterback Tom Brady, undeniably the teams biggest star. Brady didnt go to the White House, citing a family situation. Brady and Trump are friends, but Brady has avoided talking about Trump for months.

Look what his wife coincidentally Tweeted out:
Supermodel and philanthropist Gisele Bündchen tweeted a link to an April protest against President Trump and his climate policies at the same time Wednesday that her husband, NFL quarterback Tom Brady, was missing the New England Patriots' visit to the White House.
On April 29th in Washington- D.C. - March for climate, jobs, and justice. To change everything, we need everyone. https://t.co/dZaRiXQV46 Gisele Bündchen (@giseleofficial) April 19, 2017
The tweet links to a video promoting the Peoples Climate March, a Washington, D.C., protest planned to coincide with Trumps 100th day in office.

I also noticed that Trump, who has praised and thanked Tom Brady effusively, said nothing about him today when talking about the success of the team. The article notes he highlighted players who were there with the exception of Amendola (who he thought was there). Tom Brady was the MVP of the game. The team never would have won the Super Bowl without him. His performance was nothing short of incredible. Being that Trump and him are friends, you would expect Trump to really praise up Tom Brady. If the reason was that his mother was sick, you would think Trump would have remarked that he wished his friend Tom could be there, but he had a family emergency. Perhaps he would offer his thoughts/prayers and then tout his friend Tom's role in the Patriots success. That didn't happen, though. It wasn't until after that I realized he never once mentioned him at all...just as he didn't with other players who weren't there.
I wish his mother well, and if she was the reason, disregard my speculation.
However; upon further review president Trump attested that Bradys balls were rather soft, and being president he could grab him by the - oh no.
>> Brady has avoided talking about Trump for months.
Because the Disney thugs will attempt to trash his reputation.
You must be commenting on de-fake gate.
Screw every coward and left wing bum who didn’t have the correctness to accept the honor of a visit to the White House.
I don’t know anything about Brady’s mom, but he announced weeks ago he would be a no-show.
Amen. And what’s with him saying that his wife said he can’t talk politics, while she’s still running her big mouth on empty head?
Apparently Tom’s mom is in very bad condition. I don’t blame him, bad timing. It’s happened to all of us.
I didn’t see announced until either the morning of or the night before. He just released a statement right before the Patriots were set to leave.
I’m a bitter Seahawks fan although that superbowl was super this year establishing Tom Brady as a football great and best QB ever. I got rid of TV 2 years ago my football knowledge on current NFL approaching obsolesce-so basically combination of snarkiness with some nice tequila - oh and a bit of ignorance mmm tasty lack of knowledge
Apparently she can because she’s on the “right” side of things.
That was a great game — two awesome teams. But Patriots played a smarter game. And this year against the Falcons was unbelievable. True to the name, the Patriots play hard until the bitter end.
What’s your tequila of choice? I’m a single malt guy.
He never would come out and definitely endorse Trump, and he’s supposed to be Trump’s friend. Meanwhile, Tyler Eifert of the Bengals did and didn’t care about the consequences.
I like that Dos Artes Reserva Especial in that incredibly beautiful bottle but its just way to expensive - hell now I got to go in and see what I’m having its some high end Hornitos I got at Christmas should pay more attention - however I didn’t spill any so there is that
I think Tom Bray’s mom is very ill with Cancer.....and as I understand the family is close and this isn’t exactly going well for her. Time will tell.
...”Apparently Toms mom is in very bad condition”...
Yep ..and when your in that valley life stops otherwise. Been there done that with my mom.
Okay so you forced a trip back to the cabinet and its a Hornitos Anejo Sauza quite nice
LOL, I hear Padron is pretty good.
>> Hornitos Anejo Sauza
Cool, I’ll keep that in mind for my friendly tequila fans.
