At the moment, we have about 75% of what we need for a nuclear deal with North Korea. Both the United States and China are putting unprecedented economic and military pressure on North Korea, and that means North Korea will start to get flexible. But without the remaining 25% of what is needed for a deal, no breakthrough is possible. North Korea is unlikely to agree to anything that makes it seem as if it caved to pressure from the United States. You have to solve for that to get a deal. That is the missing 25%.
So let me tell you how to do that.
Im about to suggest a somewhat impractical idea just to make the point about how deals get made. This is what I call the bad idea that is intended to generate some creativity toward a better idea.
So heres the bad-idea form of the deal:

I disagree. South Korea does not want China on its China on its territory. Too many memories of its treatment as a satellite of China.
Give the leadership an offer of asylum, if they leave peacefully and allow a transition leadership to open up North Korea.
Good evening.
Of course I didn’t read the whole article, but bottom line is that President Xi is responsible for his puppet.
That’s the way I see it.

Maybe start by repatriating those Americans in their work camps as a start.
“Deals” with North Korea are how we ended up where we are today.
North Korea has no cards to play in this game now, and in reality neither does China. If China loses its ability to sell their crap here, their economy tanks overnight, and their middle class begins real resistance.
Time for Fat Boy to lose face.
Or die.
I prefer die, with smoking nuc test centers and rocket pads. That’s the deal we should have.
I think the 3 carrier groups heading over there now and their latest missile blowing up on the launchpad might have something to do with a solution.
Well i think you needt to bundle fatboy in to the deal
Give the power that be in North Korea that both their nuclear program and fatboy is the problem get rid of both and North Korea is welcome back into the world community
The “fake because” in Scott Adams words is in makes fatboy the problem that causes North Korea to be isolated. That that give the military in north Korea the cover to be the good guys to save the motherland
China can pull that off ... the Communists party in North Korea can see that China’s “capitalist/communist” is their path to prosperity. That North Korea’s current “Cult of dear leader Personality” stalinism on steroids is a dead end
It is more important to make a deal with China than with NK.
We could supply China with a good and clean form of energy(LNG) that would also eliminate China’s air pollution problem, thereby entering into a mutually beneficial treaty with the most populous country in the world.
It will be a win-win for either nation. Economic growth will be bigly and long-term.
Not sure I’d want a collection of Red Chinese lining the only land border of my country, but replace them with Elbonians, and we might have a deal!
There is no deal for NK, while Fat boy is still in power. A deal implies that both sides get something out of it. Fat boy gets zero concessions. Any deals will be after a new government in NK is formed, Fat Boy is ousted, and all nukes and related materials have been confiscated.
Alternative:
Let it be known to all North Korean military officers ranked colonel or below, that if they liquidate Kim Jung-un and his entire family and all general officers, establish a Chinese type system, denuclearize, and somewhat demilitarize, that we will give each of them $1 million real US dollars, a wild party in Bangkok or Okinawa, and rice for life.
Either they will go for it immediately, or Kim will have to kill them all.
The only way to bring lasting peace to the Korean peninsula is to convince China that they will be held accountable for anything their client does. Appeals to the Dean Acheson/April Glaspie paradigm have had disastrous consequences in the past and if followed, will again. Mr. Adams doesn't seem to understand this.
The world breaks down into allies, friends, friendly competitors, and hostile competitors. England is an ally. India is a friend. Russia is a hostile competitor. Is China a friendly competitor? We will find out soon.
Nuke North Korea to oblivion.
South Korea can play a part... like East and West Germany.
Whatever we do, don’t get stuck with rebuilding North Korea.
Agreed. China’s going to have to heel their proxy, or we will.
