US VICE-president Mike Pence has threatened North Korea with an "overwhelming response" if Kim Jong-un uses nuclear weapons.
Donald Trump's number two has issued the stark warning to Pyongyang during a visit to South Korea today.
During a trip to the Korean demilitarized zone (DMZ), Pence said "strategic patience" with North Korea is over.
His explosive comments come 24 hours after supreme leader Jong-un was humiliated by the embarrassing failure of a missile test.
Tensions between the nations are still fraught as Trump said the US has "no choice" to build up military power "stronger than ever before".
Now around 1,000 US fighter jets and pilots have teamed up with South Korea's Air Force to prepare for war with the communist state.

1,000? Relatively speaking, that is a HUGE number. It’s hard to believe, frankly...
1,000 fighter jets? Really? What are our numbers these days? I’ve lost track of what we have that’s air worthy but if I remember, we got some serious issues with maintaining and parts availability.
That was my thought, also. It seems hard to believe that such an armada as this could be controlled like the new-age doctrine dictates.
I can understand near a thousand B-17s over Germany, IIRC they did it, but they were mostly just “set loose” according to an overall orderly plan. I just find it difficult that any real-time control could be had today. That’s pretty stressing IMO.
We have over 6,000 in inventory.
And I still don’t believe it.
I do not believe that this is feasible. 1st, getting that number of a/c would be a mobilization without logistic support. Not that many tankers to feed the bird on their journey. 2nd, getting the squadron support personnel over there would require the fleet of C-5’s and C-17’s to haul their trash. 3rd, the support bases in Korea cannot handle that many people/things. 4th, the overflow from Korea would be Japan/Okinawa. Same issue as #3.
Never ask where the fighters are....ask where the tankers are!? If Tinker AFB has any KC135s/KC10s, you know that we aren't moving 1000 fighters. Also, look at the munition ships in Diego Garcia....if those move, then you know they are filling the bunkers at Osan, Anderson AFB, etc.
You do not seen 1000 planes half way across the globe just to send a warning. How many planes does an aircraft carrier carry? 85-90.
If this is true, the planes must be showing up somewhere. Hard to hide that many.
No way. There would be not enough airfields to accommodate them over there. Perhaps they count everything in that part of the world, in Japan, Korea, aircraft carriers in the region etc. but that still seems to be too many.
They could be lying just to intimidate Kim Jung.
The initial air campaign in the 1991 Gulf War involved 1,800 U.S. aircraft and over 100,000 sorties so this seems numerically possible. But the build-up (Desert Shield) occurred over a six-month period.

My reaction.
We could do it, since we’ve got something like 13K aircraft in total including support craft, but to move a thousand more to the region ... It would take some doing.
I’m betting we’ve already got that many nearby.
Are there that many things to blow up in North Korea?
We’ve got bases all around the Pacific that they could be including in their count to make it sound imposing.
This is meant as a threat, not a wish to go to war. Otherwise we wouldn’t be pounding our chests about all the firepower we are amassing.
1000? Geez, more fake news.
Amazing, all the negative thoughts. We couldn’t put a man on the moon, either. Couldn’t be done, nope!/s
It's working, enough said, great job Mr. PRESIDENT.
I’m surprised DUMBO left us that many. Much less pilots or bombs.
Yes, disinformation.
