Good night all. Spent several hours at two different Urgent care centers today. Tired. Nothing serious...asthma. First Urgent care told me I wasn’t covered there anymore. Told where I had to go now.
Oh yeah, I love the accents here. And the local sayings. People actually do talk like they do on Andy Griffith. Even were starting to pick it up, saying that we’re fixing to go to town. Or we have a notion to go to town…
It looks like Graham North Carolina is 3 1/2 hours away. A bit far, although I do love going into North Carolina. The mountain seem to be more rugged and the valleys deeper. But when we had decided that we had to be in the mountains, the Tri-state area Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina was it! Actually I had spreadsheets with all sorts of data on them for all of the red states. Average home price, demographics, voting record, average SAT scores, weather highs and lows and duration, humidity, most especially taxes, property taxes, vehicle taxes, income taxes, religion,...this area seem to fit our needs best, having moderate weather, beautiful scenery, low economic growth (to keep taxes, home values, and the potential of invasion low), and lots of Americans that have voted right for probably 100 years.
But honestly, after escaping mexifornia anywhere would’ve been better :-). We came here with no jobs, spent all her money on a house and renovations, their fingers crossed that it would work out. Most jobs around here pay pretty pitiful so we were kind of getting nervous…
Now, it sounds like you have a pretty interesting lifestyle. If you’re able to take the time off to do volunteer work, hike, renovate peoples houses, etc. do you move around a lot?

Yes and no. The time period, over 7 years that I did volunteer work in Appalachia (KY) 1997-2003, happened in Oct. each time, extending into Dec., once, the year we built an entire house. It was a mission trip with a church group. The area is also known as a tri-state area- where KY, VA, and TN meet. I lived in IL during this time frame.
I was able to draw a tradesman pension “early” with a penalty, so I took the hit and went walking/hiking, starting in 2012.
While living in IL, I supported our military overseas by landing a number of short term construction jobs, deploying downrange to Afghanistan and Iraq, from 2004-2009, embedded with the troops for a total of 40 months in country.
I worked up in the Sierra mountains last summer and fall, 3 hours NE of Fresno, and plan to do the same thing this year.
I winter in Peoria, AZ.
Once I finish the PCT, hopefully this fall, I am going back to work, rehabbing and flipping houses- the good Lord willing. ;o)

There was a townhall during the campaign, IIRC it was on Hannity. One or both of the boys was asked about guys and Tiffany and I don’t recall the conversation, but he said he/they were very protective of their “little sister”.

I had an e-device that got dunked in dirty water, worked very briefly then quit.
A few months or so later I noticed ! the red recording lite was on !
Now I am using it every day PTL ! VERY fortunate I noticed it was working again, could have easily missed it if it had either used up the battery or all the recording space before I noticed !
One day for a sociolgy course my son was taking he had to follow me around for 24 hours and record my gender based activities
While watching me in the kitchen he started laughing
“Bet no one else has a mom who is baking a pie from scratch with apples she grew on a tree she planted. Rolling the dough out on a cabinet she built,in a kitchen she plumbed and wired , standing on a tile floor she laid, wearing an apron she sewed. Did I leave anything out mom?
That’s when we had the discussion about how his parents and grandparents did whatever needed done. My dad and grandpa both were cooks. My mom did the barn chores and could build fence with the best.
