How Trump’s Threat to Separate Mothers and Children Deterred Migration (READ THIS)
The Wire ^ | April 14, 2017 | Julia Edwards Ainsley, Reuters

President Donald Trump has won the first major battle in his war on illegal immigration and he did it without building his wall.

The victory was announced last week by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which released figures showing a 93% drop since December of parents and children caught trying to cross the Mexico border illegally.

In December, 16,000 parents and children were apprehended; in March, a month in which immigration typically increases because of temperate weather, the number was just over 1,100.

It was a remarkable decline – steeper than the 72% drop in overall apprehensions – but for eight DHS officials interviewed by Reuters it was not surprising.

Trump has spoken about the need to crack down broadly on all illegal immigrants. But, internally, according to the DHS officials familiar with the department’s strategy, his administration has focused on one immigrant group more than others: women with children, the fastest growing demographic of illegal immigrants. This planning has not been previously reported.

In the months since Trump‘s inauguration, DHS has rolled out a range of policies aimed at discouraging women from attempting to cross the border, including tougher initial hurdles for asylum claims and the threat of prosecuting parents if they hire smugglers to get their families across the border.

The department has also floated proposals such as separating women and children at the border....

I'm talking about U.S. Citizens that work ORDERED overseas by the military, or the federal government to do a job for periods of time of many months, that had children while overseas. under a legal marriage.
Go to any U.S. Embassy or U.S. Military Base.

It happened to one of my in-laws, back in the 1920’s.

Ah, but the liberal judiciary has legally institutionalized a misreading of the Fourteenth Amendment leading to the creation of anchor babies.

I don't support "anchor babies.
But I don't want to give military United States Citizens problems when their children of a legal marriage are born overseas.
The laws at the time of the child's birth makes that child a United States Citizen that does NOT have to be "Naturalized."

Operation Wetback 1954, was last serious attempt to control illegal immigration.

Reagan's amnesty was the biggest slap in the face to all those who immigrated legally and for those competing for jobs with those illegals. It also set a precedent that made illegals think it would happen again if they just waited long enough. Being rewarded for their illegal behavior was one of the most loathsome things I've seen in this country. Reagan may have been a good President overall but he made some huge mistakes. That and screwing over the air traffic control Union are the two biggies I can remember.

Still; he did a lot of good too like the Berlin wall coming down and ending the cold war.

Exactly! And one interview during the primaries, a reporter asked him why he was separating families. He calmly said that he wasn’t, they could all go back together. The reporter was so shocked he just went onto the next question. He and I had no clue how to handle common sense.

What kind of horrible parent would leave their child behind? If that’s what we’re importing, we definitely don’t need them.

“Cut off the welfare.
Put the screws to people who hire illegals.”

Neither Trump nor sessions have talked about enforcing E-Verify. And punishing employers that are caught . If they did this the numbers would be even better. They would start to leave here. Instead session says that those here that are committing crimes (what the hell is the definition of illegal?) have nothing to worry about.

They are doing great on everything else but I really want to see this addressed. And now.

Are you being sarcastic? The only way W was going to tackle illegal immigration was to give them all amnesty! It was only the house Republicans that stopped it. Heroes like Tancredo and Hunter.

It was a long time ago so refresh my memory, but I think he handled the air traffic controller strike just fine. They’re not allowed to strike. Doing that will cripple the nation. They decided to defy the law and he got rid of them. Edd of story. That’s exactly what Trump would do, I’m guessing.

Unions should not be allowed to hold companies - or countries- hostage. That’s just using mob tactics.

Oh, and I agree with you on his amnesty. I agree with you 100%. He was told after he amnestied them, enforcement would take place and there would never be another amnesty. You would think he would be smart enough not to believe the liberals.

How am I being sarcastic?

I said:

The Bush family was never, ever interested in tackling illegal immigation. One of the primary reasons was because of Columba Garnica Gallo-Bush, the woman who married Jeb. She was born in León, Guanajuato, Mexico.

How is that untrue? She had tremedous influence in the Bush family. She pushed for amnesty. Did you hear Jeb Bush during the primary calling illegal immigration "an act of love"?

I’m talking about illegals bringing kids in or having them here, not US citizens bringing their kids in.

Illegals should go back & their kids with them.

The women coming over to whelp their little bundle of joy anchor babies, and the ones dragging the rest over the border are doing so for economic reasons. The economic angle includes collecting very generous medical, housing, and welfare benefts, paid for by the US taxpayers.

The only long-term solution is the elimination of welfare, in the sense of eliminating every program that makes it viable for a woman to have a child which she cannot support through the earnings of herself and her husband.

I’m glad Trump played that card because it’s not just a primal fear but one of the few things that Wetbackistans legitimately have to be afraid of if caught. We won’t shoot them as the intruders they are, we won’t confiscate their assets, we won’t even send them to a years hard labor to repay the cost of patrolling for and then catching them.

Because; "she very vocal within the family regarding illegal immigration, she was reported to be extremely influential with the family."

Ok; so just WHAT was the CONTENT of her vocalization?

Retail milk prices, the report said, would increase 90 percent if all immigrant labor was lost.

Oh?

Prove it!

Did they DEDUCT the cost of WELFARE to the soon-to-be US citizen daisry workers?

That would drive the supermarket price of a gallon of milk, which averaged $3.37 in June,

???

It's been around $1.84 in my local Walmart lately!
