Didn’t we drop some earlier versions of this in Afghanistan in 2001?—seems like I remember it being discussed then.
MUST SEE AFTERMATH!!!
One wonders if and when we will have a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber drop a GBU-57A/B Massive Ordnance Penetrator to let the Fat Kid from North Korea what is what?
As I recall the US developed a ten ton bomb for use in WWII, but never used it. It could be seen at the Aberdeen Proving Ground.
Why didn’t Trump drop this bomb on the alleged chemical weapons bunker at the Syrian air base?
Instead, after the Tomahawk assault, a USA military spokesman said the chemical weapons bunker was specifically NOT targeted.
If the weapons were actually stored there, the MOAB would have sprayed poisonous chemicals a half mile in every direction and killed dozens of Syrian Air Force personnel.
It would have been an appropriate USA response, if Assad’s alleged chemical attack on Syrian citizens actually took place as Trump has described.
And, the MOAB would have destroyed the chemical weapons.
Instead, Trump consciously decided not to destroy a stockpile of Assad’s chemical weapons.
Very strange.
Wiuld have though a deep earth penetrator would be good for tunnels rather than an air blast?
Yes sir.. that’s MY President. MAGA!
From the news coverage, it’s not at all clear what munition was used.
The GBU-43 “MOAB” is designed for use against surface targets and is filled with a burster charge of 18,700 pounds of H6, a mixture of RDX, TNT, and aluminum. No thermobaric explosive involved (the latter are also called fuel-air explosives).
The GBU-57B Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) weighs about 30,000 pounds and is designed to penetrate hardened or subterranean targets, delaying detonation until after penetration. Just the thing for mountain tunnel complexes. Its burster charge weighs some 5300 pounds, much less than that in the GBU-43. The additional weight can be attributed to an external case of much greater thickness (possibly of steel) than needed on MOAB.
Storage costs for these munitions are minimal. USAF owns a number of proper facilities, dating back to the days when the bomber force was much larger.
that’s a good looking bomb!
Unfortunately, it missed its target by 2067 miles.

Heres a thought . . . a hundred or two of these puppies dropped onto the clap factory in PoonTang and problem solved . . . nuff said.
It blowed up real good.
I bet the gas mileage improved dramatically on the C-130 after it dropped the bomb.
Strategically multi-purpose. There were reports yesterday that the Crazy Fat Kid in NK had a nuke in an underground tunnel, all prepared for testing this Saturday in “honor” of the most important national holiday in NK: the birthday of founder and first leader, Kim Il-sung. Within twenty-four hours we drop the tunnel-destroying MOAB on an ISIS-infested tunnel system. Hopefully, we killed a lot of ISIS psychos, at the same time sending a loud (BOOM!) message to the Crazy Fat Kid. Could be a win-win.
In the meantime, I like to think that Putin said something like this when he heard the news: “Holy chit, this guy is even crazier than Reagan! Who knows what he will do next?!?”
Military leaders were POTUS guest for dinner last night
Guess he served chocolate cake for desert again!
We heard you missed us. We're baaack!
Love,
America. F YEAH!!
This was actually about the TLAM strike on Syria, but I'm sure it's how liberals feel today too.
Compare the pacifist years of obama when we were ashamed and the world thought we were wusses and were not afraid to wreck havoc....
This is the POWER we are... this is the leader we voted for.. this is the message we want to convey.. and this is the UNITED STATES again... World, take notice!
