.S. general sees progress by Iraqi forces in Mosul despite complicated battle

"Iraqi security forces continue to progress as they liberate the western side of Mosul," U.S. Army Major General Joseph Martin, head of ground forces for the U.S.-led coalition fighting Islamic State, said

Looks like the pace of operations in Mosul is speeding back up a bit, as the 9th Division has entered the city from the NorthWest (North Gate secured), and the forces from the South have captured all of the city West of the Old Town. Steady killing ISIS every day.

Rumor has it that the Federal Police are ready for another big push into the Old Town as well.

A new tool has been Taiwanese jamming devices for the drones that ISIS has been using.

I sure would like to see our ground forces out of there. Let the Iraqis do the fighting on the ground, as we lend air support.

I’ve a nephew there. They’re doing a great job, and most of the up close and personal stuff is being done by Iraqis. Their casualties are high but their sacrifice is paying off.
