The Republican will win handily.
SoS says Estes winning, so far, by 2000 votes, 51-48. About 60 percent of precincts reporting. If he wins, it will be ugly but at least it will be a win.
Another county holding back its results is Harvey, county seat Newton. The ‘Rat is ahead of Estes by 8 votes, with 18 of the county’s 38 precincts yet to report.

James Thompson (Democratic) 46.9% 35,866
Our guy is ahead by about 3,400 votes. Looking a lot better than it did a while ago.

Barber Co gives Estes total lead now of 4700.
Butler County, county seat El Dorado (home of KPHN AM 1360 Catholic radio in southern Kansas), just completed its count, and Estes gained about 500 votes from the final ten precincts to win the county 6,937 to 3,902.
