Those of us who were boys of a certain age will never forget the happy feelings we felt when "Centerfold" first aired on MTV.
It seemed so racy at the time, and looking at it today it is quite charming in its comparative innocence.
Centerfold is an evil song. Totally not down with centerfold behaviour, but assuming the gal is a ho, is worse.
From a previous life . . . Bloodshot
Any word on Ruth Bader Ginsburg?
Just seen the J. Geils Band in November of 2014 at TD Garden in Boston with Bob Seger. I knew most of the band in the late 70s when I was a teen...they used to come into the ice cream shop my girlfriend worked at stoned, late at night, to get some sweets. Great guys. Left all the girls a ten dollar tip for scooping their ice cream up.
One of my all time favorite bans. A cult favorite. They weren’t too popular until the Sanctuary album came out and then they were called sell-outs. It is my favorite Geils Album.
RIP, J. Geils.
The silver lining to his death is that I just now found out Magic Dick had a last name. I had no clue!
Oh well... Love Stinks. And, no anchovies please.
Not everyone can say The Eagles, ZZ Top, Billy Joel, and U2 opened for their show!
R.I.P.,Mr. Geils!
He “Must Have Got Lost”
I saw them in 73 with Ladies Invited....Magic Dick was the star to me....I always liked that name.....my wife will find it amusing.....shoulda been my nick.....Yeah right......this band was a bit before her time
Peter Wolf wrote some good stuff
He wrote Patty Loveless hit record Nothing But the Wheel...about as good a sad song as country gets....Wolf lived in Nashville a bit after the Faye marriage
Geils was the only goy in the group...oddly.....I just saw that on wiki ....RIP
They were a funk band to me.....like a white Sly Stone band
But. Centerfold was their breakout much later
I saw them later summer 1974 when they opened in Memphis liberty bowl July fourth for Mick and the lads...I think first time the tongue logo was used in a tour
The Goats Head Soup tour I reckon it featured some Its Only Rock and Roll stuff too which was soon to be released
They tried to come on stage with pachyderms.....
Furry Lewis was first act ....bless his heart
Not appreciated like he shoulda been in that sweltering heat given his due as almost a pre Robert Johnson peer
Saw J Geils band back in 1977 at Rich Stadium in Buffalo. They were touting with Yes, Bob Seger, and strangely enough, Donovan.
Great all day show!
Anyone else here see that show?
RIP.
Favrite song: “Give It To Me.”
Such a great band. RIP.
This was the bomb in high school. I saw them many times. RIP
Looking for a music ping list, but can’t find one. Stumbled aacross this: per his daughter’s FB page, Allan Holdsworth has passed unexpectedly. We’re losing a lot of good ones these days.
