Health Care: As Republicans stumble around in search of a way to repeal ObamaCare, they should look to the states for answers. After all, several of them had to find solutions when their ObamaCare-like reforms started to fail.
The GOP has apparently decided that, despite the problems it causes, any ObamaCare repeal plan must keep the core feature of ObamaCare its protections for those with pre-existing conditions.
Are they not aware that several states have already gone through this exercise before, and that many ended up abandoning these very protections after their insurance markets started to implode?
In the early 1990s, several states adopted "guaranteed issue" (which banned insurers from turning anyone down for health reasons) and "community rating" (which banned insurers from charging the sick more than the healthy).

There, fixed it.

Bad enough in the body, but looks particularly ignorant in the headline. Would be different if the body of the article referred to websites or repositories, where “site” is the correct homonym.
High Risk pools (that actually get handled by insurance companies thru allocation by the state- at least for auto) allow UNDERWRITING in the open market. obamacare eliminated the meaning of UNDERWRITING from health insurance.
Before o-care was shoved down our throats, many said it would be cheaper to just pay for the folks who had pre-existing conditions than to implode the health insurance system.
The Dems wouldn’t hear anything of it - they wanted to be charge of that part of the economy.
Trump has all along, been for Repeal AND REPLACE.
Repeal and Replace.
It is not about repeal. It is about replacing Obamacare.
Heck, further back than that.....Pennsylvania adopted No-Fault Car Insurance in the mid-70’s. Within five years premiums were utterly unaffordable, and half of Philadelphia was driving uninsured.
The title contains an error.
It should be “plane”.

The easy way is to say this is a state issue and give the hot potato back. Then assist the states in their endeavors. We should have 50 ideas, half or more will fail but we will also have ideas that succeed.
That is called failing your way to success.
Exactly right.
The Uniparty eunuchs do not want to give up the power that Fedzilla derives from Obamacare. Controlling all health care decisions and medical records and all of the federal agencies created by Obamacare are what they really want to preserve.
There is no repeal in this repeal and replace dog and pony show.
repeal: 1.revoke or annul (a law or congressional act):
It is disingenuous to keep saying repeal and replace when replace is all they have in mind.
repeal: 1.revoke or annul (a law or congressional act):
Nope.
Trump has said repeal, and replace, for the entire campaign.
Those saying “repeal” now, did not win the election.
repeal: 1.revoke or annul (a law or congressional act):
They should stop using the word they don’t mean.
Repeal has a specific meaning.
They really want to rearrange Obamacare, they have no intention of repealing it.
Just say replace.
That’s exactly right. States should be the ones to do this, and be held accountable.
Dang, I just saw this, and corrected the headline.
Thanks
