DORIS DAY: “DO, DO, DO”

Among her sideman, this 1950 recording features the members of the Hollywood String Quartet, to include the father of conductor Leonard Slatkin. That makes this recording historic. The HSQ was the first great American quartet, and when they weren’t performing the classical repertory, this is what they did for their daily bread and butter.
