The sister-in-law of billionaire George Soros forced her butler to sleep on the floor and repeatedly tormented him with homophobic comments — telling him she had “money and I can treat people however I want,” a new lawsuit alleges.
Zahied Mohammed, who is black and gay, started working for Daisy Soros — who was married to the late Paul Soros — in October 2013 as her weekend butler.
The Trinidad-born Mohammed soon found that Daisy Soros — a philanthropist who runs a fellowship program for immigrants to the U.S. and their children — would bully him “in a manner she never treated any White or heterosexual employees,” according to a lawsuit filed Thursday in Manhattan Federal Court.
When Mohammed, 43, started working for Soros at her Fifth Ave. home, across from Central Park, she told him to sleep in a guest room “but refused to let him sleep in an actual bed" during his first year there.

"Instead, she actually forced Mr. Mohammed to sleep on the floor at the foot of the guest beds” - whereas white, heterosexual employees were allowed to sleep in a bed, the suit, filed by lawyer David Gottlieb, alleges.
"It made me feel like a slave," Mohammed told the Daily News. "I couldn't believe it was happening.”
Meanwhile, Daisy Soros’ dog, a poodle named Tango, was allowed to sleep anywhere, he claims.

"It was really painful because the dog was allowed to sleep on the bed — but not a black human being, a black immigrant," he said.

Mohammed put up with the alleged sleeping arrangement for about a year — and spent his nights on a $75 foam pad from Costco, he said.
When Mohammed got fed up with sleeping on the floor, he threatened to quit — but Soros asked him to stay, saying, “If you stay here, then maybe I'll live a couple more years," he recalled.
Mohammed, who also kept an eye on Daisy Soros' health as part of his job, agreed.
Daisy Soros,87, allowed him to use a bed at that point - but still required that he sleep on the foam pad on top of the mattress, not directly on the guest bed, he said.

Daisy Soros, who knew Mohammed is gay, also belittled him because of his sexual orientation — repeatedly telling him that “It's better to be married to your husband than to go out there and get AIDS."

When Mohammed told her it's an offensive stereotype that all gay persons are promiscuous and sick with AIDS, “Ms. Soros dismissively responded, 'That's what you all say,’” the suit claims.
"I was disgusted," said Mohammed. "Not every gay person sleeps around."
Soros also allegedly told Mohammed: "Don't be a sissy. Stop complaining and be a man" after he spoke out against similar comments, the suit says.

Mohammed's suffering reached a breaking point in September 2016 when he complained about not being paid for several days.
"My last name is Soros and I know some very powerful people," she allegedly yelled. "You are nobody and I will fire you the next time you talk to me about anything that is not your f-----g business."

Mohammed felt forced to quit and left.
"No matter how much wealth or power the Soros family may have amassed, that can never excuse Ms. Soros treating a caring and hardworking employee like a second-class citizen," said Gottlieb, a partner at Wigdor LLP.
"That really frightened me," Mohammed said.
Asked about the allegations, Daisy Soros’ reps said Mohammed had sent her a grateful text message the summer before he resigned. A screenshot of the alleged text stated, for example, “Thanks again for everything!!!!!”
Daisy Soros’ lawyer, Dov Kesselman, pointed to her philanthropic aide to immigrants.
“Over the past 20 years the Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans have funded $125 million in grants for nearly 700 immigrants to pursue graduate studies in the U.S. and pursue the American dream. These fellows have come from 88 different nationalities and encompass a broad range of races and religions, without regard to sexual orientation,” Kesselman said in an e-mail statement. “It is unfortunate that a disgruntled former part-time employee, who expressed his appreciation for Mrs. Soros’s support on many occasions, is now engaged in a transparent attempt to extract money from Mrs. Soros with false allegations of discrimination.”
“Mrs. Soros and her family deny these baseless allegations and believe her life’s work to support immigrants to the U.S. says a lot more about who she is than a former part-time employee seeking a quick payday,” he also said.
If the butler valued his job of driving Miss Daisy, then why did he inform her he was gay? Did she really need to know this? Something here does not add up, except for the $$$ he would like to win.
