Live thread. Should be a nuclear day! Will Shumah cry?
Not really -- this one (hopefully) gets us back to the status quo. Trump selection of the next SC justice will be a big one.
Not really?
If not for this one, would you not say the same thing about the next one? In another words, it takes this one to make the next one even more important, right?
He currently has 53 votes. Manchin and Donnelly have both voted for him so far...they are of course both up for re-election next year.
At least 2. Mansion [sp]& Hidecamp [sp]
I have never seen that before in a Senate vote.
Schumer ryhmes with Choomer. Coincidence?
This was a foregone conclusion. The Rats knew they weren’t ever going to replace Scalia with a liberal.
This whole thing has been Kabuki Theater from the beginning.
So Gorsuch has bipartisan support. Hehehehe
Not the point. Reread the post.
As is most of what this government does.
McConnell has always been good in opposition. He was a great Minority Leader. The criticism of him has always been that he can't find a way to conjure 60 votes out of a caucus that has numbered in the range of 51-56, including a half dozen squishes and RINO's. This criticism is generally made by those who think that a bomb-thrower would do better and that another government shutdown would solve all the Republicans' problems.
They should have "offed" him much earlier in Zero's tenure, then.
I haven’t heard McPantstain’s name called... has he voted?
If I were Pence I would be pissed having to wait for these a_holes to get to the chamber to vote no.
Thank you to President Trump and to the Senate
It’s official - 54-45 he is confirmed (one Senator did not vote).
Now moving on to a nomination for deputy attorney general. Pence leaves the chair.
I LOVE Pence’s smile during the closure of this!
Yes, he voted “Aye”.
What, is obammy back in the Senate?
The candidate is either qualified or he is not.
Instead of the Senate they should be called the Hackery.
