I don’t think we are being herded to war.
Young Assad is a textbook example of the problems with the hereditary rule. He is incompetent and in over his head. Some of the things he has done, like releasing islamist terrorists from prison to make the opposition to him look bad, have been extremely stupid gambles.
IF chemical weapons were loaded on a plane at that airfield, and now that nothing can fly out, would there be discoverable traces of those chemicals that could be sniffed out? I’m pretty sure we have bus sized military spacecraft monitoring everything that goes in and out of that area as we speak. Just a question for those that might know.

Actually, this is more likely to prevent a war. The likelihood of another tyrant miscalculating if Trump will act just went way down. It’s ambiguity that leads the putin/assad types to think they can commit crimes like this.
Right now, putin could pick a less vile person than his buddy assad. If putin really wants to have his bases in Syria in the future to outflank the West, he needs to move against assad.

That small airbase was protecting Homs, and Palmyra, and if you are following things on the ground in Syria, ISIS is taking full advantage of it at this very moment to launch a new offensive on Palmyra.
Remember Palmyra? Roman temples, amphitheatre..The Amphitheatre where ISIS’ child soldiers carried out over fifty executions? The amphitheatre, and architectural treasures ISIS destroyed.
Palmyra’s gas fields? Seized by ISIS to finance jihad?
Just about a month ago to the day, Palmyra was liberated from ISIS.

I am following things on the ground. There is no new ISIS offensive against Palmyra. What are you talking about? If anything it’s Assad’s forces launching new offensives in the area - they just invaded and took over Sukkari Farms.
There was an ISIS attack near Furqlus against the SAA, but no signs that it’s anything out of the ordinary for ISIS activity.

There are similarities, but the ones you mentioned still have to compete in the elections and as we saw Clinton lost. Young Assad inherited a country from his father. They had some mock elections where he supposedly won 99.8% of the vote. If that was true and he is so loved then who are the rebels?
