He was funny when he did a roast for Dean Martin...RIP...
Must of been great timesI was actually home on leave for Christmas with orders for Viet Nam. My parents lived in Vegas. One night I wore my uniform and about 2AM I was sitting at the counter in the (almost empty) Sahara coffee shop. Sitting behind me in a booth was Frank Sinatra, Buddy Hacket, Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop. (some names you may not recognize). Anyway, the waitress came to me and said that someone who wishes to remain anonymous would like to buy you whatever you want...I had a milk shake.
:)
I was down in the dumps one day in January. Marathoned Rickles on YouTube and ended the day with sore tummy muscles from laughing. Rickles was one of the greats and feared no one. Not even Sinatra who he told one night, “Make yourself at home, Frank. Hit someone.” :)
Rickles and Carson together, well...not much better than that.
Those were the best shows when Rickles was on.
For later. Fond memories.
RIP to an American treasure.
Forget it, he’s rolling.
