Kind of surprised that McConnell was able to hold all the Republicans together.
I'm not a huge fan of McConnell and I don't trust the GOP, but these people know they are on the right side of history as well as the right side of the political battle on this one. Donald Trump was elected president because a lot of Americans are sick of a government that doesn't get even simple sh!t done ... and a Supreme Court nomination ought to be about as simple as it gets in Washington.
This was no surprise to those who have a realistic, as opposed to permanently pessimists, understanding of politics.
McConnell held them all together to block Garland's nomination, too. Doing that for a solid 250+ days despite much media hostility was an even bigger feat IMHO.
