Study offers a dire warning on climate change
Boston Globe ^ | April 6, 2017 | By Chelsea Harvey

Continuing to burn fossil fuels at the current rate could bring atmospheric carbon dioxide to its highest concentration in 50 million years, jumping from about 400 parts per million now to more than 900 parts per million by the end of this century, a study warns.

Some research suggests that, if humans burned through all fossil fuels on Earth, atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations could hit 5,000 parts per million by the year 2400.

The new study speaks to the power of human influence over the climate. It suggests that after millions of years of relative stability in the absence of human activity, just a few hundred years of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions are on track to cause unprecedented warming.

and an explanation of where the carbon was before it was buried as fossilized organic material. They act like they don't know that CO2 is being returned to the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels.

I have to wonder if any mass extinctions may have been due to depletion of atmospheric CO2 due in turn to overgrowth of plant life.

As we neared the AGW end of the world predictions around 2005 they moved it to 2010.

When 2010 got close predictions went to 2015-2050 - extra room before being shown wrong and those predicting disaster will have retired.

After 2010 they started talking about 2030-2050.

Now we have articles talking about 2400 and 2250 when the scientists will be long dead.

It seems like those studying “settled science” have settled on the fact that their dire predictions won’t happen until after their predictions no longer matter.

If their predictions were worth anything, Al Gore would have used his carbon exchange profits to buy ice-free, ocean-front property at the north pole by now. Looks like he won’t be around when that property becomes available.

Tempting but the answer is not Yet Another Law. Getting government out of the sciences altogether would do more to help the integrity of the sciences.

The study must be loaded with absurd assumptions.

Behind all this is the primal fear of a world at risk.

That actually has merit. Nobody is expecting the world to last forever. Its beauties and benefits as well as ugliness and loss will one day be history.

The real story is God. People tried to act like the world was theirs and bollixed it up. If they acted like it was God’s then all manner of things would shortly come into perspective.

People are on to the con the climate alarmists are using to pick our pockets of more money to waste on their scam.

Being called a climate denier has lost its bite. Like being called a racist. It doesn't have the impact it once had in the PC world of the cultural Marxist Left.

As the Left keeps crying wolf, people's eyes glaze over and they are beginning to ignore these government grant fund seekers.

all bases are now covered.

A business-as-usual trajectory suggests that carbon dioxide levels could exceed 2,000 parts per million by the year 2250, concentrations that were last seen about 200 million years ago.

One of which is that government must be pulled into a particular side of a political disagreement about scientific belief. If scientists alone could hash this debate out we might have a sane answer very soon.

Which, if even remotely true, will mean a longer growing season at higher latitudes, more food for the hungry. The left wants them to starve instead.

Isn’t that (200 million years ago) when the great coal deposits were being laid down due to massive growth of vegetation over much of the Earth?

Oh Nooooo! Another “study”! We’re doomed!

And, to add insult to injury, WE paid for it! Stop with the grants, already; they'll say anything to keep the cash flowing their way!
