In Glenn’s honor, President Donald Trump has ordered flags at federal entities and institutions flown at half-staff Thursday, his press secretary tweeted, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich has done the same at public grounds and buildings across Glenn’s home state.
There was a public outpouring of admiration for the former fighter pilot, history-making astronaut and longtime Democratic U.S. senator from small-town Ohio after he died on Dec. 8 at age 95.
Thousands of mourners visited his flag-draped casket as it lay in repose at the Ohio Statehouse for a longer period than assassinated President Abraham Lincoln and others in history.

In America we have real heroes and some of our great American heroes are so great that they deserve to be honored more than once, and by more that one president.

I was puzzled too, but it seems he is actually to be interred tomorrow. I’m puzzled as why the delay in interment.

NASA seems to be one of Trump’s priorities. It was the same with Geo W Bush, who was pushing his pro Amnesty agenda while pushing for NASA funding in early 04 I believe.
Well, agree or disagree with his politics, but he certainly was a brave American who who helped explore space. That is the American spirit....travel and exploration.
Arlington has a tremendous backlog of interments. No special treatment unless petitioned (and granted). Glenn probably did not request - it’s considered tacky.
FWIW, my Mom died June 2015. Wasn’t interred with Dad (already buried there) until September 2015.
Amen! Regardless of politics, going up in a rocket at the dawn of the Space Age, and so eloquently reporting his experience, was pretty much ultimate bravery. Godspeed, John Glenn.
