In some parts of the world, including India and some African countries, men commonly hold hands, taking it as a sign of friendship and respect.

This is as close as the PC BBC gets in the entire article to remotely coming close to mentioning the giant elephant in the room -- the reason why, all of the sudden, gay men are being assaulted in The Netherlands. The reader is left with the impression that Third World migrants who have been swamping The Netherlands would be happy to see two men holding hands.
